Jaden was despondent as he sat on the strangely slow train back to Domino City to return to the tournament. It had been a stressful few hours. He showed up in the next town to visit his friend, Blair, only to find her and her boyfriend, Marcel Bonaparte under attack by the Servant of Nightshroud. To his horror, the assailant showed immense power of Darkness and sent the defender of the couple, Marcel's father, Jean-Louis to the World of Darkness. If all that wasn't bad enough, Blair had left Jaden to comfort Marcel but not before providing the terrible identity of the Servant to Jaden...the duel champion, Zorath Newman, whom had mysteriously pulled out of the Pro League Championship. And now Jaden knew why...
He was thinking of why Zorath joined Nightshroud, and why the latter would want to attack Blair. He fairly assumed it was a means to upset Jaden himself, and try and push him closer to his own Darkness again. Jaden was now feeling immensely guilty that Nightshroud had now taken Dr Crowler, Professor Banner and now Monsieur Bonaparte to the World of Darkness, all for the sake of revenge against him.
As the train pulled into the City, Jaden saw that Chazz's duel was to start last. He was up against one of his brothers, Jagger.
"Oh, more awkward situations." he thought to himself as he paced his way to the duel arena as Syrus was due to start his duel just before Chazz.
Awkward was simply not the word.
Things were tense as the sixth duel came to an end. Slade Princeton was defeated in a duel against Aster Phoenix, and he looked humiliated and mutinous.
"Good for Aster." thought Syrus, "And good riddance to that moron, Slade."
Syrus was then announced to take to the arena for the seventh duel of the day.
"But...where's Jaden?" he wondered nervously.
There was no time for Syrus to search for Jaden as he was needed immediately. His opponent, Missy was already approaching the stadium. She had an expression on her face that was very similar to Slade Princeton's; mutinous and angry. This was not surprising since this was only her first Pro League tournament because some years ago, she was halted from being sent to the levels required for such a privilege by Syrus, and to cap it all, by being balked by Syrus, it ruined Missy's hopes of getting acquainted with her crush, Zane Truesdale.
Syrus soon approached the arena, to face off against Missy. He was worried that Jaden and Blair were not here yet. They ought to have been able to reach the arena to watch Aster's duel at the latest, but there was no sign of them.
"Hope you're ready to lose, Shrimpus!" called Missy venomously.
Syrus looked to her, and fully acknowledging who it was he was duelling, he became focused and determined.
"Not likely, Missy!" he retorted as he primed his Duel Disk.
Missy followed the action.
"DUEL!" they and the commentator declared together as the life points were set at 4000.
Meanwhile, Jaden was having no luck reaching the stadium. Traffic was awful due to the tournament, and he had been slowed down badly by traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.
"I hope Syrus is doing okay." he said hopefully as he crossed the green lights.
Syrus was sadly not doing too well after the first five minutes. Within a few turns, Missy gained the upper hand, destroyed his Steam Gyroid and eliminated his Life points to a measly 800 while her own life points remained perfectly intact. Syrus' field was empty and Missy controlled her ace monster, the Fusion monster, Insect Princess, the Fused Royal. It had a terrible Attack power of 3200 and negated Syrus' chances of attacking with non-Insect monsters and if his field was empty, he could not Normal Summon non-Insects either.
