“Hey! Hey! You’re here again? No one’s gonna buy rice cakes in here!”
Kang Taehyun, eight years old, with his yellow school bag stops by in front of a park when he saw a familiar kid with a basket on his hand named Choi Beomgyu.
“Just go if you’re not going to buy!” the young Beomgyu yelled at him and moved a little bit.
“Hey! Look at this,” Taehyun showed his arm. “I have three stars because I perfect my science activity, how about you?” he asks him.
Beomgyu put his basket on the ground first and pulled his sleeves up. Taehyun’s eyes widened a bit after seeing so much bruise in there, almost turning black.
“See these? These will go and won’t add up if all my rice cakes will get sold today. That’s why, get lost!”
Taehyun’s too young to understand what Beomgyu said. The other is only a year older than him and yet he’s soul is already mature to understand how cruel the reality of the world where they are living. That’s when Taehyun started helping Beomgyu selling all the rice cakes and they became friends at a young age.
At the age of 12, Beomgyu left his believed family and stayed in Taehyun’s house, months before they went to Seoul. At this age, they should be enjoying their youth and play until they passed out. But at this age, the two’s already saving up money before going to the big city.
“What’s waiting for us in there? Are we really going to have a bright future in there?” Taehyun rhetorically asked the other while they are outside, lying and looking at the skies that full of stars.
“There is,” Beomgyu replied. “There should be. If none, we need to create one,” he added.
“Right— oh! A wishing star!” Taehyun exclaimed and pointed at the sky.
“Where!? I didn’t see—oh! Was that?” Beomgyu copied the reaction.
“Close your eyes! We need to wish!” Taehyun encouraged and Beomgyu did it.
At the age of 16 the two already decided to live with their own, inside the noisy city; where everything matters, where you need to do a great job, where you need to save and spend, where you need a social standing to be recognized and prioritized, a place where everything revolves in money.
Choi Beomgyu kissed Taehyun torridly while gently making him lay on the bed. They are messing with each other’s lips while ripping each other’s clothes in excitement.
“I missed you so much, Pretty,” Beomgyu muttered when they rest their lips for a while.
“I miss you more,” Taehyun replied and then Beomgyu kissed his neck leaving some marks in there up to his clavicle. Beomgyu’s making sure that Taehyun will have his kissmark.
