"Doctor Sumiko, I have an idea." Yukino says, with a glint of hope. She hopefully thought that this is happening for her to make up with her secretary that she lost.
The two doctors turn to their young colleague's direction, who has a gleam of optimism in her eyes.
"Chiyo-san cannot breastfeed, nor she can be a blood donor to her child because of AIDS being a contagious disease. But what if we ask the help of the baby's father?" This time, the eyes of the female head's eyes glow a bit different because of her youngest's idea.
"If the baby is AB negative, it is highly likely that her father would also be AB negative. That would make the father the next most compatible blood donor. If he donates blood to his daughter, the success rate of her operation will increase, right, Doctor Sumiko?" Yukino asks the head doctor hopefully. This made the eldest female think hard quietly.
"I guess you could say that the baby's survival would increase if she receives help from her father. Maybe that doesn't sound like a bad idea, Doctor Miyazaki."
"As much as I want to agree, girl..." Doctor Hanami starts with a hint of disagreement in her voice. The two turned to her.
"...I don't think that will be easy. After all, that girl..." She continued. Then, she tries to look around, making sure nobody else hears what she'll say next.
"...is a call girl, isn't she? Finding the father will be difficult." She added lowly to respect the mother's private information. They do not mean to pry on the girl's personal life, but they are not blind enough to discern something so obvious. After all, they practically checked 'her'.
Yukino momentarily became quiet as her friend says that. She has a point.
However...
"I will ask Chiyo-san, anyway. It's the least I could do to help the baby and her mother." The two older doctors once again gazed at their young comrade who for some reason is so determined to help the girls. But they have always known how much tenacity this colleague of theirs has.
"All right. Good luck, Doctor Miyazaki." Doctor Hanami says and patted her shoulder.
"But you better prepare for the worst. Don't burden yourself too much ." She even added. Of course, she'd be worried. She is aware of how much the toll of those who died four months ago on her fellow young doctor.
"If you will not be able to find the baby's father or if he chose not to help his own kin, then it's no longer your fault or anyone else's. We'll do something about it and help the baby altogether." The brunette couldn't help but smile to the other doctor's kind encouragement. Thus, she nodded after squeezing Hanami's hand.
This occurred minutes before she talked to the child's mother whose real identity is Hidari Surumi, and listened to a glimpse of her life. Unbeknownst to her of what her ideas will bring her.
Back to the man she pushed away before.
How weird destiny plays in this game called 'life'.
Oh how she hopes she possesses the same determination she had earlier.
Because now that she is finally in the presence of the centralized brothels in Tokyo, she is literally thinking whether she made the right choice.
Which is to walk right back in the wolf's den.
Or to walk back home where she's safe and away from the man who brought her hell.
"Can you really do this?" she mutters. If she's any louder, the couples left and right, as well as other clients around would hear her speaking to herself.
