i woke up to my alarm going off, and quite frankly it scared the hell out of me. i didn't even remember falling asleep, and i don't even know how long i was out for. as nervous as i am, i'm also quite excited to start this journey. it's my first day at this new job in this new place. i put my best outfit on and head over. i'm welcomed by the staff and they all show me where to go. they explained to me again that i'll mainly be working with one group, but when needed i'd bounce around. honestly, with the pay i'm getting, i'm debating on if i actually want to continue my education.. i don't know, i'm impulsive so i should probably think about that first. when we finally get to what i assume is the practice room, i notice 9 girls practicing a song. i'm not familiar with the "kpop" scene, never really got into it. i don't have anything against it, i don't dislike it, but i just never got into it. the girls finally stop and grab some water.
"y/n, these are the girls you will be working with. you'll be doing photoshoots for them, and recording dance practices as well."
"i see, thank you."
"i'll leave you be to introduce yourself. take it easy on yourself today, just get familiar with everything and everyone. they have some time before their comeback, but soon enough things will start to pick up so expect it." i thanked the staff for showing me where to go and what to do. before i know it, the girls are heading over my way. i'm nervous honestly, i just have never actually worked for someone before, let alone a huge company being my first.
"hello, we are twice, i'm guessing you're our photographer?" one of the girls say
"ah yes, hi, i'm y/n. i just moved here." i greeted them and they all seemed so excited to hear that i was from the states.
"well it's nice to meet you, y/n. i'm jihyo, the leader of the group." she states, then the rest of the group introduced themselves.
"hi i'm tzuyu! it's nice to meet you."
"i'm mina. i'm excited to work with you"
"jeongyeon, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"hi y/n! i'm sana!"
"i'm momo!"
"nayeon, and i'm the oldest of us all"
"hi i'm chaeyoung, it's nice to meet you"
the last girl introduced herself, but she seemed oddly familiar? i don't know why. i feel like i've seen her before..
"hi i'm dahyun, it's nice to meet you."
"it's so nice to meet you all, i'm very excited to work with you guys and getting to know you all." i felt welcomed, but i still couldn't figure out why this girl looked so familiar. a couple minutes pass and they're practicing another dance. i'm taking pictures of them all, until it finally clicks. dahyun, she's the one i ran into at the airport.. but what was she doing there? she seems like to big of a person to be in such a town, specifically, my town, where everything gets out. they stop to take a break, and i approach dahyun. i wanted to give a better apology than i previously had.
"hi, dahyun was it?" she nodded her head and flashed a smile.
"i just wanted to better apologize. i couldn't quite put my finger on it until i was sitting here. i ran into you at the airport and just kind of ran off after apologizing. i didn't mean to just run off. then when i saw you sitting next to me, i kind of freaked out more because of the past incident." i explained, but something still isn't sitting right with me, because it still feels like i've known her for a while.
"ah, y/n it's all okay. honestly it seemed like you were having a bad day, i wanted to talk on the plane, but you seemed to be in your own world."
"i guess you could say it was, i kind of just up and packed all of my belongings a couple days prior and decided to move here. i have to ask though, what were you doing there?"
"i was visiting my family, after all, it was my hometown." my jaw dropped, there's no way that she lived there too? i would've known.
"that's your hometown too? but it's so small there i feel like i should've known you." i'm shocked by this information, maybe she left before she became known? i don't know i have so many questions.
"well, i was born there, but when i was about 7 i moved here to korea. my mom wanted me to experience other things and schools in her hometown, so we moved to korea. my dad stayed there to run his business, but he came to visit every now and then. when we are free i go there and i visit him too." she explained, but before i could respond they were getting ready to do one more practice run. i decided to film their practice this time instead of photographing the moment. i was truly stunned by how they made this seem so easy. i know it's difficult, but they moved with such a breeze. once they finished, they decided they had enough for now, and that they were all ready for lunch. i decided to go to the convenience store close by, i grabbed myself some food and headed back. i figured i'd just eat here that way i don't risk being late or anything like that, i also didn't want to intrude on the girls' break time. they just met me. i decided to just keep my solo rider vibe going and sat alone. that's what i thought at least, but then i was surrounded by 9 girls.
"y/n, why are you sitting alone? you know you can eat with us. after all you will be working with us for a while." mina said, they all looked at me with a concerned look on their face.
"well i figured since i'll be working with you guys so much you might want time between all of you. i didn't want to intrude your break time"
"it's no worries, y/n. we all spend every day together, even though we get tired of each other, we still love spending time with one another. we're happy to be with you." jihyo said. i felt welcomed, but still nervous.
"okay jihyo, but it might take me sometime to remember that." i said with a slight smile on my face.
"we may not know you all too well yet, but we'd all love to get to know you." after being told that by jihyo, it really made me feel welcomed, but you know, there's still the voices telling me i'm not deserving of their time. not after she ruined me. i decided to push it off to the side, for now at least.
"well then, what all do you want to know?" i asked
"just anything, give us a quick summary of yourself." jeongyeon said
"umm, well i'm y/n, i moved here from the states to escape my hometown. i grew up learning random skills like learning how to speak korean, i love photography, i'm 19 and i'm going to university of seoul in the fall. i didn't really have any friends back home, which is why i'm kind of a loner, but that doesn't bother me much, umm that's about all i can think of to tell you." i gave them a quick summary of everything i could think of, and we all continued talking. shortly after, we got back to work. a couple more practices and they were done. it was about time for all of us to head home. we all said goodnight and went our separate ways.
