[INTERMISSION ARC] Chapter 59: The More the Merrier

"It was another day, and the blue hedgehog got up from his bed, ready to do the same thing he did yesterday - improve. Sonic quietly left the house, prepared to be trained by Leon once again. As he walked, he noticed a figure staring at him from a bush. The figure seemed puzzled by Sonic's behavior. Eventually, the figure emerged from the bush, and it turned out to be Amy. She appeared quite obsessed with Sonic's recent behavior and sighed, saying, ''He's off again... and he hasn't talked to me for a couple of days. Do you think the training has done him good?''

Her friend, Cream, chimed in, ''I' gotta agree. Is the training he's having much more intense than your usual training, Amy?''

Amy shrugged and replied, ''I guess so. Besides, I'm not really serious about being a total boxer anymore, like I was a year ago.''

Cream giggled and asked,' 'So, what should we do today?''

Amy got an idea and clenched her fist, saying, ''I'd have an idea. Maybe we can follow them and see how their training is done, just for fun. I mean, maybe they'll allow us to watch, and I'm interested to see how much progress Sonic and Dijon have made.''

Cream thought for a moment and said, ''Okay...''

''Great!'' Amy exclaimed. ''Shall we head to the old man's house? I think that's where they are being trained. Are you up for it, Cream?''

Cream pointed her finger up and giggled, ''Well, we have nothing better to do, so why not! Let's go!''

So, they left their district and wandered until they reached the house. Amy stared at it and said, ''I think this might be the one.''

Curiously, they found the door unlocked. Amy opened it cautiously, and they found themselves in a quiet living room, feeling a bit creeped out. Cream remarked, ''This can't be right. How can someone leave their door unlocked when there's no one in sight?''

Amy replied, ''I'm not sure, Cream, but it's a little scary.''

They continued to explore and found a door leading to the training area. They were interested, and Cream wondered, ''Do you think someone is down there?''

Amy made a puzzled face but believed Cream's assumption, saying, ''I think you may be right. We can go in; I doubt this old man will mind.''

As they walked down the stairs, they saw Dijon still trying to keep up with Aeon during training. He seemed more efficient than before, but eventually, he sat down. ''I think.. this is my limit.''

Aeon chuckled and reassured him, ''No need to worry. Take a good rest, and then we'll do it all over again. It's just part of our practice... huh? Who are those girls?''

He noticed Amy and Cream's presence and pointed at them with a stick. Amy got nervous and waved her hands, saying, ''I'm sorry! We didn't come here to steal or anything. We just wanted to see how you guys are doing. You haven't really talked to us for a couple of days, so we decided to check in.''

Aeon calmly responded, ''You don't need to worry. As long as you don't break anything, I'm fine with it.''

Sonic looked up and noticed them, looking different in his outfit. Amy remarked, ''Sonic, you look different.''

''Yeah,'' Sonic replied with a giggle, ''I guess you can see that. Aeon's training is making me stronger, so I can take on even stronger foes. The new clothing feels a bit odd, but it's cozy too.''

Cream asked curiously, ''So, the shirt you're wearing makes you stronger?''

Aeon intervened, ''It's part of his Soulfication process. Think of it as a protective coat for his soul, shielding him from diseases and other natural effects.''

Amy was intrigued and said, ''Oh, I see. So, only those with the power of a Soulblade can wear it?''

'Exactly,' Aeon confirmed. ''And since Sonic and Dijon can wield Soulblades, you probably can too.''

Amy smiled, ''Really? That sounds cool!''

Sonic chimed in, ''Amy can wield a Soulblade too. Hers is an improved version of her hammer.'''

Then Aeon would begin to play with his stache again. ''A... Soul Weapon, that it's a hammer, an interesting gain, maybe.. she can use it, but not today... since the training we had is done.''

 Then Knuckles was seen walking, he seems them in a crowd, and he looked confused. ''What... why are these two lads doing here..?''   and Dijon would look at it too. ''Probably.. just seeing what are we up to, curiosity..'' 

 ''Well... yeah..! That's what we are here in the first place, me and Cream got quite worried about you three, so we decide to pay a visit, hehehehe..'' she then made a giggle, alongside Cream.

 ''Well.. now that being, I think you can go now, expect... Dijon, I'll need a word with him.'' he then would look at Dijon, creating tension between them. 

 ''Yeah..! sure, the old man won't push him too much, have good faith in yourself, buddy...!'' Sonic would give a thumbs up to his good friend and would leave together with his gang on a hangout, while the orange hedgehog looked at Aeon, not expecting anything.

 ''Don't look much afraid my friend, we can just have a word with your Soulblade.'' He said.

 ''What's.. wrong with my Soulblade, sure's it's lost control, but it still feels the same, ever since I was able to wield that one even without Satusgai's aid, although...'' 

 ''Although...'' As he was speaking, Aeon repeated his sentence. 

 ''It's lonely...'' He would look down at the blade, it felt much soulless in that regard. 

 ''Notice.. that this blade began to crack, the more you use it..? I would say, that the Soulblade you once had, even when you were with that Soulner friend, was just.. a gimmick power of his, you were just borrowing his power a little, while not amplifying it to yourself, it feels like you're robbing energy from him, other than transferring that to you, by himself.''

 ''How does that make sense... He was the one who let me use his powers, but.. in what way.. or I just don't get it..''  It made him feel of many questions, yet he tried to find many ways to answer them, but it looked like he wasn't sure if that really meant power robbing.

 ''' Sure, he was fine with you borrowing powers, but... it was still a fraction, you need to wield an actual weapon, that defines you, not by others, I think you've seen of your friends, that they wield their own themselves, they aren't masked.''

 ''Then.. there's one question I could ask you, Aeon. If Satsugai is a Soulner, then I come to wield the power of a Uni-Balancer, cause of that watch..?'' as he was saying, he would point to the watch with his finger.

 ''You're right, that device was created, to make any powerless people, into a Uni-Balancer, although.. that makes you an unofficial member, so even if you were one of them, you aren't accepted.''

 ''I see, I'm not on their side either, so what now... I'm out of words.'' he looked down again.

 ''Well, there's.. an actual another secret that lies in my house, that being a place, that will get you an actual weapon that will define your existence, even if the one who doesn't has a partner, as a Soul Weapon user.'' he said it, while giving Dijon to think on what the place will be looking, he thought of as being a place of royalty. 

 ''If you say so, I'm ready.'' And with no time of thought, he accepted that offer, so they both left the training guard, while Leon went on his way off, they stared at a grassy field, that was this house's backyard, then suddenly Aeon snapped a purple ring out of his pocket, it was the Void-Ring and the portal was open beneath it.

Dijon recognized it. ''A Void-Ring..?''

 ''Yes, that will get us to another dimension, we are going to leave Emerald town for a bit, are you ready Dijon..?"'''With an experience I had before, I am ready with all of my might..!'' as he said, with a confident tone of his.
