It seemed like the plan was coming to a close. Now only Sonic and Amy were left to finish the job. However, it appeared that Sonic would be the one to retrieve the emeralds quickly, while Amy was left to fight an opponent all by herself.
She aimed her hammer at Praeto and declared, ''I'm not afraid of you.''
''Is that so?'' Praeto responded, smirking. ''I have to admit, you haven't seen how capable I am.'' His arm cannon began to charge.
She pondered for a moment. ''Can my hammer deflect a charging blast? Am I powerful enough to knock it back? I must try'.'
''BLAST!'' The projectile was launched, aimed at Rose. She focused on the incoming blast, then with a determined effort, swung her hammer, redirecting the blast in the opposite direction. Praeto dodged it. ''She... knocked it back.''
''Did... I...?!'' Amy gazed at her hammer in disbelief, amazed at her newfound ability.
'Well, it's not like I've run out of options.'' Praeto's futuristic arm cannon transformed into a hand-blade, and with swift speed, he slashed through Amy, dealing a significant blow. ''Auwk...!''
'Hah... You didn't dodge, which means I'm faster than you!'' The echidna dashed again, delivering another cut to Amy.
She winced in pain and clutched her shoulder. ''Uugh... he's too fast...''
''Now...'' Praeto prepared for the next attack.
Amy smiled, slamming her hammer into the ground. ''HAAAYAHH...!''
''What...?'' He looked at the ground as it started to crumble beneath him.
''Oh...? Looks like this floor is about to get messed up. Well, thanks for everything. Bye-bye!'' She smiled at him, then took a high-dive leap upstairs, waving at Praeto as she went.
''How dare you mess around with the Nocturnus?! You'll pay for this!'' He seethed with anger, but before he could react, the floor collapsed beneath him, and he fell through. ''DAMN YOU, GIRL...!''
Amy glanced down. ''Ooooh... Hopefully, that didn't kill him. Well, I must catch up to Sonic. I wonder if he managed to retrieve the chaos emeralds!''
With determination, Amy ran into the next room, intent on meeting up with Sonic.
Now turning to Sonic, he finally reached the main operating room of the hideout. Positioned on the second floor, he observed an intriguing scene: a portal and two figures within. One was a random scout soldier, and the other a peculiar white echidna. Although the latter resembled a member of the Nocturnus Clan, he lacked armor or even a helmet. Holding a projector containing the seven chaos emeralds, the echidna began to speak.
'So... I hear that a group of teenagers attacked our base,' the white echidna began.
The soldier affirmed, ''Indeed. It was terrible. Even Shade's third-seat commander was defeated, and all our group members...''
The echidna continued nonchalantly, ''Well, it doesn't matter now. They're useless to us.''
''What? You mean they'll be abandoned?'' the follower questioned.
''When someone fails in our clan, they're destined to be eliminated. That's what our imperator says.''
''Yes, yes... It's not like we need them anyway,'' the scout chimed in.
''Now, with all seven emeralds gathered, we can confidently proceed to the Twilight Cage,'' the white echidna stated, eyeing the portal.
'Twilight? Should the Balancers be informed about this situation?' the follower inquired.
