As Sonic returned to his home island where he grew up and befriended a stranger, he heard a noise. With curiosity, he ventured into the dense forest. Despite the place's density, he could discern each sound, counting each step until the hedgehog stopped, pondering whether it was real. Then, a triggering sound echoed, revealing a figure that had been standing there all along. Silently, the figure commanded, ''Stay where you are.''
Sonic remained calm, unmoving, just silently standing his ground. The figure executed a backflip, its acrobatics fluid, landing directly in front of Sonic. The blue blur stared and questioned, ''Who are you...?''
The figure chuckled briefly. ''Ah, right, a kid like you probably wouldn't know about us. We're defined by a name: Marauders!''''Marauders... I've never heard that name before. What's someone like you doing in this place, anyway?''
''An excellent question. Our mission is to locate something called the Chaos Emerald.''
''A... Chaos Emerald?! What could you possibly want with that?'' Sonic shrugged.
''That's none of your concern, kid. It appears you don't possess this valuable object. I command you to leave this island immediately. There seem to be two individuals on this island.''
''No.'' Sonic responded simply to the mysterious figure with a poker face.
The Marauder's anger flared, and they stepped closer. ''Is this your answer? Do you think I'm just some random guy trying to be in charge? I'm not. I belong to a Clan that surpasses the technology of your civilization!''
Sonic leaned in nonchalantly. ''Oh, is that so? I don't care.''
''Argh! Enough of this! Hedgehog, you've pushed it too far. I'll show you the power I possess. Consider this a lesson not to mess with someone more formidable than yourself. Farewell, Blue Hog!'' The Marauder fired a blast from their arm cannon directly at Sonic. But as Sonic was, well, Sonic, he disappeared into thin air. The enemy looked around in pure confusion and stood in shock. ''Where did he go...?''
Before the Marauder could react, they were suddenly punched in the gut, causing them to lose consciousness. They collapsed onto the ground. The blue blur inspected his fist, surprised by the strength he had gained. Just seconds later, he was ambushed by the same group of people the Marauder had been part of. They seemed to be acting as scouts. Despite the surprise attack, Sonic sat on a rock, calm and collected. ''So, you guys are mad too, huh? Well then, come at me!''
The entire scout team launched an assault on Sonic, but they posed little challenge. They tried everything – arm cannon blasts, blue energy blades from their wrists – but after a few minutes, Sonic sat peacefully while they were defeated. Still, he couldn't shake the mention of the Chaos Emerald. Gasping, he looked at one injured scout who was laughing behind his mask. ''Your power... It's abnormal. But it's too late now; we have the Chaos Emerald in our hands. As for your actions, the entire team will be after you. Someone as foolish as you resorting to violence against us.''
''Ugh! Suspicion goes both ways. When we were fighting, I saw the destruction you caused in the Green Hill Zone. I won't allow anyone to get their hands on any Chaos Emerald. That's why I fought you.''
