I'm awoken by Pansy's shrills. I groan covering my ears. Something about how she needs more bathroom time to get ready. I roll my eyes and get up. I groggily put on my clothing before heading out with Astoria and Lucille to the Great Hall. I quiet on our walk there. But they seemed to be fine with it as they chatted away. We took our seats next to Harper.

With a whoosh and a clatter, hundreds of owls came soaring in through the upper windows. They descended all over the Hall, bringing letters and packages to their owners and showering the breakfasters with droplets of water; it was clearly raining hard outside. I honestly felt bad for my owl Styx. I hardly got letter from people and rarely sent any.

"Earth to Raelyn!" A voice said interrupting my thoughts. Astoria was waving her hand in front of my face.

"Sorry, got lost in thought." I say putting on a smile. They glanced at each other before looking back at me. Professor McGonagall was now moving along the table handing out timetables.

"So, what have got this morning?" I ask trying to change the subject. Astoria groans.

"We have double DADA, with that toad." She complains.

"Well at least it's with Gryffindor's so Potter will probably do something that will entertain us." I say trying to sound hopeful. Suddenly I remembered something I needed to do. I get up from my table quickly.

"What's got you in a hurry?" Lucille says looking at me.

"Just some business to do before class." I say quickly before practically running out of the room. I was running through the halls so fast I almost ran into someone.

"And where do you think you are going?" A shrilly voice said. I look at the person I had narrowly avoided running into. It was the pink Barbie, Umbridge.

"I just left something in my dorm. I need it for class, so I was going to go get it." I say trying to stay calm and polite. She puts on a tooth6 grin and laughs.

"You're the new Slytherin Prefect, are you not?" I nod my head wondering what she's getting at.

"I'll let you off the hook this time but you must set a good example by remembering everything for your classes next time." I put on a very fake smile and vigorously nod my head.

"Of course," I say, "If you'll excuse me." I walk as fast as I can down the hall until I turn the corner I begins to run again. Even the sound of her voice infuriates me.

I finally arrive at the dungeons and speed down the stairs and past the entrance to the common room and towards a familiar door. I arrive in a familiar room. One I've missed.

"Rose!" I shout excited before running over to my giant white . "You've grown so big!" I exclaim seeing she's almost double in size. "Your practically full grown by now!" She lowers her head as I scratch it and her sounds of happiness in response. "I really missed you,"

I spend as much time as I can with Rose before running out of the dungeons and to my first class. My first class was History of Magic. History of Magic was by common consent the most boring subject ever devised by wizardkind. Professor Binns, their ghost teacher, had a wheezy, droning voice that was almost guaranteed to cause severe drowsiness within ten minutes, five in warm weather. He never varied the form of their lessons, but lectured them without pausing while they took notes, or rather, gazed sleepily into space. I had barely been able to pass simply because I had been taught the history of magic since I was young. Today, we suffered an hour and a half's droning on the subject of giant wars.

I heard just enough within the first ten minutes to appreciate dimly that in another teacher's hands this subject might have been mildly interesting, but then my brain disengaged, and I spent the remaining hour and twenty minutes playing hangman on a corner of my parchment with Astoria.
