The news that Ron had been poisoned spread quickly next day, but it did not cause the sensation that Katie's attack had done. People seemed to think that it might have been an accident, given that he had been in the Potions master's room at the time, and that as he had been given an antidote immediately there was no real harm done. In fact, the Gryffindors were generally much more interested in the upcoming Quidditch match against Hufflepuff, for many of them wanted to see Zacharias Smith, who played Chaser on the Hufflepuff team, punished soundly for his commentary during the opening match against Slytherin.

I became increasingly distracted as the days went on. Not long ago, Ravenclaw had played Slytherin and won, meaning they were on a good path to the Quidditch Cup, but rather than focusing on how to gain an advantage through observing the upcoming match, all I felt was guilt and paranoia.

Someone had to have connected the dots by now, and I feared that someone would be Harry, who was relentless in questioning me about Draco when I was around. It had gotten so bad that even Hermione had to step in and tell him to knock it off. I knew I should've felt relieved that Harry seemed to be the only one not blind to what we were doing but honestly it was only making me more scared that he did. He was very close to the headmaster and I'm sure he had reported his concerns about Draco to Dumbledore already which would only increase our problems if Dumbledore knew what we were doing.

On my way to the Quidditch pitch I unfortunately ran into the one person I had been avoiding.

"Nice job by the way, very impressive what you've been up too."

"Go away Urquhart." I said glaring at my Quidditch captain.

"You know when you told me to get you potion ingredients I didn't think you would be poisoning-" he started to say.

"I said shut up!" I said a little bit louder. "If I can poison the chosen one's best friend then I can damn well poison you. So I suggest you quit talking so loud and go away."

Urquhart smiled and laughed. "I'd watch what you're saying, just remember that I'm the one providing you with an alibi if someone comes asking about where you were."

I scoffed at him. "Why don't you go watch the match and take notes so you can actually coach us to the championship."

"With the way you're playing I doubt we'll get to the semi finals." He said. I rolled my eyes at him. "Plus I remember telling you to get Malfoy back on the pitch. But I haven't seen him at a single practice."

"Well you're not exactly Draco's favorite person."

"Hm, is that so?" He said wrapping his arm around my shoulder. Just as I went to pull his arm off me, he dropped it and his face fell. I felt a new hand snake around my waist and pulled me away from Urquhart.

"Shouldn't you be watching the match." Draco said harshly to Urquhart. Urquhart scowled and mumbled something under his breath before walking away.

"I thought you were working on the cabinet." I said.

"I thought it would be best to watch some of the match, so people wouldn't get suspicious of me...especially after what happened." Draco explained.

"I'm sure Harry would've found it suspicious if you didn't show to make fun of his team the entire match."

Draco scoffed. "Stupid, Saint Potter-"

"Oh look! There he is now." I said cutting Draco off.

Draco stopped short at the sight of Harry, then gave a short, humorless laugh and continued walking.

"Where're you going?" Harry demanded.

"Yeah, I'm really going to tell you, because it's your business, Potter," Draco sneered. "You'd better hurry up, they'll be waiting for 'the Chosen Captain' — 'the Boy Who Scored' — whatever they call you these days."
