During the night, Y/n woke to the Muichiro snoring gently in her ear as he held her from behind. Shifting slightly in his arms, she let out a sigh of exhaustion and looked down at herself. She was covered in tiny purple marks, the splotchy redness from before had matured into pretty little bruises that littered her skin.

Slowly, Muichiro's snores grew quieter, until she felt his eyelashes moving against her neck. With a soft yawn, he tightened his grip on her waist, pulling her in sleepily. Y/n almost chuckled at his clingyness.

Together they layed in silence, neither of them falling back asleep for a while. The rising sun brightened the room over the next few minutes; Y/n found herself growing sleepy again as soon as the piercing light hit her eyes.

"Mui? You still awake?" She mumbled. He grunted and nodded, too tired for words. Even though she knew they had to get up, she smiled and let him hold her for as long as he liked.

She felt safe. Safe and with him. Nothing else mattered in that moment.

(Time skip)

The next day, they bid the innkeeper and medicine girl farewell. The snow had settled now and it was compact beneath their feet; a thin white layer of it was much better than the drowing sea of it they had been suscepted to last week.

Y/n reached for Muichiro's hand as if it was the most natural thing in the world. They had become... closer, through all this. Their relationship had evolved into one of another level of trust and support... Not only did they almost die together, they had now seen all of eachother... Nothing was kept secret between them anymore.

He looks so beautiful. The way his nose and cheeks are going red from the cold is so adorable.

Y/n stared at him as a single snowflake landed on his nose. He sneezed it off and then looked away, embarrased.

Her face went violently pink. That was so cute! WHAT THE HELL!

Muichiro laughed quietly, blushing a little. He felt his heart flutter as he watched the thin snowflakes land in Y/n's hair. Reaching over to brush them away, he felt her smile into his hand.

Something had changed about her...

Whilst he didn't want to admit it, his memories of the last few days were fuzzy. For some reason, he had the feeling something important had happened; he simply couldn't put his finger on what it could be.

No matter what happened, he was sure of his feelings. Plus, he could see it in her eyes, she felt something for him too...

He wanted to tell her how he felt.

But he was too nervous, he didn't know what to say... The amnesia was throwing him off guard and making him question himself more than usual.

This was all so new to him... Or was it? Had he simply forgotten how to do this stuff?

Muichiro only hope she felt the same way, as his memory continued to falter.

"We are almost back at the corps!" Y/n raised her hand to point into the distance, her voice ripping Muichiro from his thoughts. "Look!"

On the horizon stood the blurry shape of the butterfly mansion. Y/n smiled triumphantly.

"Shinobu will be able to make sure we're healing properly! I'm sure your hands will be fine, but I'd still feel better if she took a look aswell."

She glanced at him affectionately. He looked up, following her gaze and turning his head towards where she was pointing.

His faced remained blank, his thoughts racing.

What is that place again? I can't remember...

Mui looked back at her and smiled again, a small and empty expression.

"Yeah, Shinobu can definitely help out, I'm sure."

Who was Shinobu again? Another doctor?

Whilst he pondered, he realised that he had been holding hands with her this whole time. Blushing violently, he let go of her fingers and put his hands back by his side.

"You okay, Muichiro?" Y/n asked curiously. He looked to be deep in thought... Plus, he'd been acting weird all day.

Muichiro looked back at her, his face red. Y/n wanted to know what was on his mind, and he couldn't let her wonder forever... He just couldn't keep his feelings to himself anymore.

"Uhm..." He started.

"Y/n..." He blushed even more. His heart was racing now, his face growing hotter. Uncertainty ate away at him, his memory fuzzy and white.

"I.. I..". It was hard to say it, but he was going to do it. He had to do it.

Muichiro took a breath.

"I like you..."

Y/n's eyes widened, and she smiled sadly. "I know, Muichiro. We are dating. Did your memories wipe again?" She took his hand once more and rubbed her thumb over his knuckles.

It was never easy for Muichiro to hear when he'd forgotton something about her; she tried to hide how much it hurt her, but he could still tell. His brow furrowed, he felt embarrassed.

"Oh.. yeah." He looked down at his feet, his face filling with red. Then, the realisation of what she just told him set in.

"Wait what..?"

He looked back at her again, his confusion evident.

"We're dating?" He asked, now feeling really discombobulated. This whole amnesia situation was so weird.... He hated it.

"But.. when..?" Mui asked, feeling a little down about the fact that he couldn't remember this.

Y/n smiled softly. "We met a few weeks ago and became close. We've been through a lot together, I almost died and you stayed by my bedside in hospital. We went to the hot springs together, watched the sunset together... And last night we um- We kissed. More than once. This must be a lot to take in right now, but I assure you, I've felt the same way for quite some time now."

She paused. "Do you... remember last night? And the last few days?"

Muichiro looked at her for a few seconds, in sheer shock.

He felt so happy, but also so confused.

He had a girlfriend now? How did he forget? He felt like he had missed out on so much...

Did she like him all along.. and he didn't know?

He could feel his mind working, and he could feel his brain being flooded with memories.

It all seemed so real.. did all of that really happen?

Y/n saw that he was overwhelmed. "It's okay Mui, you'll remember eventually. I believe in you." She forced a smile. Whilst she wasn't lying, she did believe he could get his memories back... She wished so badly that he didn't have to forget in the first place.

He saw her smile and felt a warm feeling in his chest.

Guilt ate away at his stomach as he nodded, still thinking about everything that happened. Forgetting like this made him feel so awful, he hated disappointing Y/n.

Muichiro wondered if this was the way it was always going to be.

He wanted to remember every memory, he didn't want to miss out on anything else.. More than anything, he just wished he could make it stop.

But he was still happy to have her, no matter what. He knew his memories would return, he just hoped she could wait.

Please Y/n... Just wait for me.
