POV Kyle

"And back," I said to Ember as we fell out of a portal. "Gods, I forget it's this cold here," I muttered. 

Ember stretched. "It only took us five attempts,"

"Yeah, it was almost like something was interfering with the portals," I added. "Anyway, come on I'm sure they are missing us by now," 

We found of the group, Crystal, Andrew, Meeps, Azura, Sheila, and Rain sitting in the lobby of the hospital area. "What happened?" I asked. 

"Lilith attack, Charlie, Razer, Dex and Lyria were all badly hurt," Meeps said not looking up.

"What?" Ember asked.

"HOW!" I demanded. 

"We...we don't know," Crystal answer answered. "My mom is looking into it," 

I went to find whatever room Charlie was in but Sheila stopped me. "There's no point, you'll just be in the way," 

I  pushed her off me. "Get off!" I snapped. "You do not tell me what to do!" 

"I was only trying to help," Sheila said. 

I stared at her. "Help?" I asked. "You wouldn't know what help is if it smacked you in the face," 

Sheila's face scrawled. "And what does that mean?" she asked. 

"You grow up in a castle, you grow up with a full stomach, you never had to worry about where your next meal would come!" I yelled. 

Sheila stumbled back for a moment. 

"You never went from school to find your mum on the all decrepit sofa, not moving, COLD TO THE TOUCH!" I yelled more. "YOU DID HAVE TO SIT THERE AND LISTEN TO EVERYONE SAY HOW SORRY THEY WERE! BUT NONE OF THEM HELPING YOU! DO YOU KNOW WHO DID HELP ME! CHARLIE! WHY BECAUSE HE AND HIS FAMILY ARE BETTER PEOPLE THEN..." 

I was cut short when Sheila punched me in the face, making my nose bleed. I went to punch her back when Crystal caught my arm. "No," she said. By the time I looked past her Sheila was gone. "You want Charlie to be okay? How do you think he'd react to his friends fighting?" Crystal asked. 

I pulled my arm free. "I'll be in the mess hall if you need me," I said walking off. 

I was sitting they on my own, listening to the voices around me, but I couldn't focus on any of them, all I could think of was that day. 

it was a hot summer day, and me and Charlie had been walking home, are school jumpers stuffed into our bags. "Hey, thanks for sharing your lunch with me, Mum wasn't feeling the best this morning," 

Charlie shrugged. "No problem, Mum always packs more than I need," he answered. 

We reached the outside of my home. "You coming over later?" Charlie asked. 

"Hmm, sure," I answered.

We nodded and parted ways, As Charlie wandered down the street, I opened the door and called out. "Mum?" After a few moments of quietness. "Mum? I'm home," I dropped my bag by the front door and opened the door to the front room. 

she was lying on the sofa, looking up at the ceiling. "Hey mum, the school was alright today," I said, she didn't answer. "Mum?" I walked over to her to shake her awake, her arm was cold to the touch, and she wasn't moving. "MUM!" I yelled. 

I quickly grabbed the phone and dialled 999, a few seconds later. "999 what is emergency?" 

"My mum isn't breathing," I answer

After a long wait sitting, they looked at her not moving, The door finally opened and a few medics came in, followed by a police officer, then Charlie and his mum, Charlie came and sat next to me, his mum talked to the police offer while we sat there.

"Does the boy have any family nearby?" The officer asked. 

"An uncle in America, but thats it," Charlie's mum answered. 

the officer thought for a moment. "What about the father?" 

Charlie's mum thought for a moment. "He's not around, he was kinda...ummm just left one day," 

The officer sighed. "This makes it a lot harder," 

"I am his godmother, if you check," Charlie's mum answered. 

"Yoohoo? Overworld to Kyle?" I looked up and there was Ciara, she sat opposite me. "I heard what happened between you and the Princess, If it helps, I'm with you on it, I didn't grow up with much, nether, I only had whatever me or Kane could make," 

"I...I just get angry, I had nothing when I group, living with Charlie as long as I did, I felt like a parasite, I...I ahghr!" 

"Frustrated?" Ciara asked, and I nodded. "But be honest, did Sheila deserve it?" 

"Probably not, I just...I just get angry around her sometimes," I answered. 

Ciara took a sip of her drink. "Sheila is niceish, she did have trouble in her life,"

I rubbed my neck. "I'll look for tomorrow and say sorry. I should be heading home," 

"I'll tag along, went to Abigail," Ciara said.

I smiled. "Oh sure, I'm sure sis will love that," 

"Come.....Wait YOUR WHAT!" 

POV Charlie

What got me first, was how cold the room was, I was used to the cold, Frostbourn was always cold, it's why I love my coat, it's so good at keeping me warm, and the same for my scarf, The next thing I noticed was I was alive, that was good, I like being alive.

I looked at the ceiling. "Miracle isn't? How much we can survive, what do you think Razer?" 

"I'm not even gonna ask how you know I was the one here," Razer answered. 

"Well, all honesty, I didn't, It was a guess, would of been very embarrassing if I was wrong," I propped myself up and realised why I was cold, my coat had been replaced with a thin white top. "I can see Crystal had just been here, How long was I out?" 

"5 hours, I was out for 4," Razer answered. 

I nodded. "Well, I'm not sure if I should thank you, or arrest you," 

"I was never going to let her actually kill you," Razer answered back. I looked at him for a long moment. I was normally good at reading people, but I didn't know if I should believe him or not. 

"I take it you haven't told Crystal?" I asked

Razer shook his head. "No," 

I sighed. "And I won't, I don't like lying, but I also think Crystal needs you as much as you need her right now, old chap,"

Almost on queue, the door opened and Crystal walked in carrying a cup of water, She saw me awake, placed the cup down and rushed over to give me a hug. "I'm happy you're awake," she said. 

"And I'm happy to see you," I answered.
