I nod my head slowly as I stand up, Rick's eyes plead for me not to go. I smile gently down at him before walking in front of my father, the banging from Carl was still going. His voice now weaker than before.
I stop walking making dad slightly bump into me before I turn around. "Can I say bye to them? Alone?" I ask as politely as I could. I stand there like an kid waiting for a snack as he ponders.
"Sure. No funny business got it? I won't hesitate to-" I quickly shut him up by placing my hand up in front of his face. He straightens his back before unlocking the door and opening it for me.
Before I could even get off the last step I'm gathered into Carl's arms. His grip tight enough to make me have trouble breathing, I lay my head against his shoulder and close my eyes as I hear the door shut.
"Did he hurt you?" Carl asks fear dripping off each word, I smile softly and shake my head. "I should kill him for even laying a finger on you." He mutters angrily. "And for what he did to Glenn and Abe." He finishes.
"Your dad's okay." I say quietly as I place my hand on his tear stained cheek. He pushes his face against my hand a little making his cheek squish up. I look over to the right of me and notice the sun slowly beginning to rise.
"Whatever comes next, whatever sick plot twist the future is holding. We have to stay together." He whispers in my ear before gently kissing my cheek. I close my eyes as I place my hands on his chest to push myself away slightly. I reopen my eyes and look around not wanting to make eye contact with him.
"Yeah. Of course." I lie straight through my teeth I knew what I had to do but he didn't have to know. Not right now at least. He takes his hat off and places it onto my head before leaning down and capturing my lips with his.
We both quickly pull away when we here the RV start up. I turn around and run to the door and start beating on it, "Dad open up! What the hell are you-" My sentence was cut short as the RV's wheels spin in the dust and disappear.
I watch some of the cars and trucks from last night pull back in and surround us again. I grab onto Carl's hand before we walk back in line and get on our knees like the rest, this might just be the end for us.
The men get out and surround us like the night before, their big machinery guns weren't big enough to hide how big of a pussy they all were. Without Negan they were basically just another dead man walking.
"Where did he take him?" I speak up as ferret man makes his way towards me. He doesn't answer which makes me bite the inside of my cheek laughing slightly. "Ferret man I'm talking to you." I say harshly. He points at himself before chuckling he stretches out his hand for me to shake but I decline.
"It's Simon. You act just like your dad." I look up at him and stand to my feet, Carl grabs my hand making me look down at him as he shakes his head. It's one again at least fifty men, the odds weren't in my favor.
I back away slightly but still hold my ground, "Don't ever say that again. I'm nothing like him. I'm not a murderer." I squeeze Carl's hand tightly and feel as his thumb glides over my skin in circles.
Simon places his hand on my shoulder and squeezes it slightly. "Oh but you are. Those men you killed in the store when you with with popeyes over there." He says pointing at Glenn. "They had a family, did you care to ask?" He questions as he holds his hand up to his ear. "What was that? Was that a no? Yeah that's what I thought."
I shake my head before sitting back down on my knees. Carl leans over slightly and whispers in my ear, "Don't listen to him. You're nothing like your dad." I just nod my head slowly.
We all sit in the same spot for what felt like hours before the RV shows up again, the door is kicked open and Rick is slung out onto the ground his axe flying in the air landing in the gravels a few inches from me.
"Go ahead and grab that you're gonna need it." My dad says to him, Rick shaking hand reaches out and grabs it. Tears welled up in his eyes as he stares at us, I grab Carl's hand and tightly squeeze it knowing he must be scared shitless right now.
"Speak when your spoken too." Now dad was just embarrassing him. Rick looks around at each of us before peering over his shoulder shaking his head, sweat dripping off the end of his hair.
"Okay.. Okay okay." He repeats. Dad sticks the tip of tongue out of the corner of his mouth lightly biting down on it as he looks at his men. He squats down beside of Rick the blood still fresh on his bat.
"That trip was to change the way you looked at me. But you still look at me the same damn way. Like I shit in your scrambled eggs and that's not gonna work." He pauses as he thinks, he leans closer towards Rick. "Should I give you another chance?" He asks. Rick stays quiet for a few moments all of us staring at him before he nods his head and spurts out words.
"Yes. Yes." He says his voice quivering. At this point his sounded like a broken record playing over and over and over. Dad smiles and pats his back before standing up straight.
"Here comes the grand prize. Whatever you do next decides whether everyone's crappy day is their last crappy day or if it's just another crappy day." He smirks slightly. "Guys, put a gun behind each ones head and level with their noses so." He makes a sound before closing his hands and opening them. "It gets messy."
I listen as they walk behind each one of us and place their guns. I slowly turn my head around and see nobody behind me, "If you're going to put a gun on them. Do it to me too. I'm a part of this group." I say to one of the men behind Carl. He shakes his head while smiling.
"Bosses orders. We can lay a gun or let alone a finger on his princess." He chuckles as he presses the gun closer to Carls head. I look down feeling ashamed that they have to go through this and I'm getting the easy way out.
"Kid." I look up and notice my dad pointing at Carl before lifting his finger and motioning Carl to come to him. I place my arm in front of him and shake my head no, he moves my arm and continues to sit. "Kid here. Now." Carl swallows his pride and slowly stands up making his way over to the spot my father picked out for him.
"You a southpaw?" He questions making Carl cock his head to the side in confusion, I start to speak up but one of the men behind me slightly shoves me with his gun making me shut up.
"Am I a what?" Carl ask angrily, showing no fear to the man before him. I laugh quietly at my dads shocked expression but it quickly goes away and he takes his belt off.
"Are you a lefty?" He asks while wrapping his belt tightly around Carl's left forearm. What the hell is he doing? Carl shakes his head before replying.
"No." My dad smiles widely and tightens it even more before pointing at the ground. Carl just stares at him in confusion.
"Does that hurt?" He asks as Carl shakes his head and tells him no. "It should. Now get on the ground next to daddy. Simon you got a pen?" Simon hands the pen over as Carl lays on the ground. He takes the pen and draws a line over Carls arm.
"Rick you're going to take your axe and cut your kids left arm off."
