When I woke up the next morning, I wasn't sure where I was but a warm presence next to me instantly stole the attention. My head turned slightly so I could look up into the face of Rin on the pillow next to mine. It startled me for a moment but then I felt my face burn red. He was peacefully sleeping, letting out slow breaths that I could feel on my neck.
Turning away to release the heat from my cheeks, I looked around the room in slight confusion. I must be in his room for some reason.
I couldn't really remember getting home from the hospital. The last thing that was clear was getting into the car to return to the resort.
However, I was fully conscious and aware now - especially aware of the painful ache that was coming from my arm. I gritted my teeth and my gaze moved to where I could see the pharmacy bag on the table across from the end of the bed. So I wouldn't wake up Rin, I carefully moved to the edge of the mattress and rolled to my feet. Then I checked over my shoulder to make sure that I didn't disturb him. He was still out and still dreaming whatever it was that Itoshi Rin dreamed at night when his eyes were closed.
With a relieved smile, I then stepped towards the table - only to trip over a shoe that had been carelessly left by the side of the bed. I stumbled and crashed into the lamp on the nightstand. It almost fell over, but I was fast enough to use my good arm to steady it in time.
"What are you doing?" a sleepy voice mumbled.
With a frown, I looked over my shoulder and saw Rin now sitting up with a questioning look.
"I'm trying to walk," I said with a frown. Then I carefully made my way to the medicine bag and opened it. "My arm hurts."
I pulled out the bottle and peered at the label before trying to open it. However my arm was too sore to grip the bottle hard enough to release the safety cap.
So I sighed, and, with a blow to my pride, I mumbled to Rin, "Can you open this for me?" He got out of the bed and walked over, plucking the bottle from my hands and opening it. "Um, also, why am I in your room?"
"You don't remember," he concluded in a very low voice, still waking up. He handed the open bottle to me.
After taking it, I reached for one of the pills. "Not really... I remember getting in the car at the hospital and everything after that is really fuzzy."
"You slept in here because you were careless and left your purse with the room key at the restaurant prior to your adventure down the beach," he told me, moving across the room. He grabbed a glass of water from the nightstand and held it out to me. "We couldn't unlock your door."
"Oh...." I said quietly, my cheeks slightly red. After taking the glass and a small sip of water, I took the medicine. "Thanks..."
It was silent for a moment before Rin spoke again. "I found your purse and phone after you fell asleep." Following his gesture, I saw the items on some clothes that looked familiar. "I also grabbed a change of clothes from your room."
