Flashback

The cops shut down the party but for some reason, the young adults just didn't know how to go... home. Shilo had the house to himself, Shedeur being wherever, Shelomi being with their mom and that left him alone with Tennessee. Her glow under the moonlight was the only thing he could focus on. With her arms spread like wings, Tennessee spun around and giggled.  The rush of the night taking over her orbit as she tried coming down from her high.

"You wanna lay down? You good?" Shilo, has had enough encounters to know that this could go, one of two ways. One way, she would become angry when she sobered up and that could be at any moment. The other way, was that feeling of pressure between his legs as he navigated through their respective drunken states.

"Lay down? Now why would I need to do that?" Tennessee approached him, leaving little to no space between them. "Do you want to lay down?"

Shilo wasn't sure if this question had a double meaning. But he knew his self respect would be weaning if he didn't create a space between the two. With restraint, he moved around her to the kitchen. Not wanting to be left alone, she followed him.

Tennessee felt hot being in this situation, she knew she had Shilo in a compromising position. She knew she had herself in one. One moment they shared true rivalry like banter in the classroom, and the next he had her legs in the air, in his bedroom.

After a media worthy win for the Buffs, Shilo's search for Tennessee began. He knew there was only a short window before she had to return to her friends and family and he needed to prepare for the night's activities. Since the game ended Nessee changed her mind on speaking to Shilo. She just wanted to hide from her overbearing family. Her father and his wife continuously meddled into what she had planned and her mother cowered away. Tennessee was embarrassed and it didn't help that Denver kept nagging her about Shilo.

"Carter!" She heard his voice long before he fully entered the room.

"Just because you gave my brother a football, doesn't mean you need to talk to me." She quickly rushed out. It was harsh, it felt random but it was a deliberate attempt to distance herself from him.

Before he could get into it, the team of handlers were pulling him away. Leaving them with unfinished business.

Tennessee was back to her usual and kept brushing Shilo off. They were walking across campus together and he was trying to have a simple conversation on the way to the practice facility.

"We doing this again?" Stopping along the path, Shilo didn't care who had to walk around them. This back and forth with Tennessee was getting tiring considering they worked in the same environment. He couldn't even be her friend in peace, let alone understand why he was developing a liking to her.

"Doing what?" She asked with an annoyed expression on her face. Men were never this persistent. Why on earth did he keep trying? What happened between them was one night and he needed to let it go. She didn't believe she had the patience to keep pushing him away without saying the absolute worst to be left alone.

"You act like you don't wanna be around me." His tone being different than normal alerted her deeply hidden ability to care. "I don't wanna be bothering you, I thought we could at least be cool."

She felt bad. Everything about him seemed innocent but she just couldn't trust it. There were too many factors and it just didn't seem to add up. And those eyes, the eyes that bore into her as she rode him just kept haunting her, in her sleep.

Letting her guard down, she opened her body language which he noticed. "Listen, we can be cool okay. Just don't piss me off."

"Forreal?" She squinted and pointed at him, "You're starting."
