"Why ain't nobody tell me Jade was gonna be here?" Stefon was irritated. He didn't mind Jade being there at all, he actually wanted to see her but, he would've had Yanisa go straight to her hotel had he known.
"Nobody told you to bring your lil friend in this trip." Sierra mugged. "Aye, y'all cut it out!" Stephanie ordered. "Sweetie, will you be staying with us?"
"No, I actually just needed to go over something with Stef for his next meeting tomorrow morning. I won't even be here long. I'm sorry if I caused problems, I'm gonna go."
Darez walked Yanisa out to the car and Stefon walked through the house to find Jade. He noticed the names along the door and knew he was in or a long weekend. He knocked before entering to see her cuddle into a pillow and looking at her phone screen.
"I'll see you Monday morning baby."
"Okay, I'm so excited. Do you think daddy is gonna see me on Monday too? Mama, grandma got me new toy!" The young girl gushed over the LOL Doll. Stefon stepped into frame to say hi to their child.
"Daddy!"
"Hey baby girl, you being good for grandma?" Nova nodded her head and smiled as she looked at her parents.
"I go play now. Love you!" Nova blew kisses to the camera before hanging up.
"She's too much." Jade sniffled. "J, why you crying?" He quickly handed her a tissue from the bathroom. "She's just growing up so fast, what we gonna do when she turns five?"
Stefon laughed at the dramatics but, he often thought about how their child would grow up to be. "How you been?"
"I've been fine Marsean. How are you?"
Stefon was great on the surface. He had a lot to be grateful for. Only thing missing was Jade.
"Life been coolin. I wanted to talk to you." She quickly brushed him off, "No need to explain, it's not my business anymore."
That hurt, more than he expected it to. She made it seem like she didn't care, as if she didn't want him anymore. Their break up was stupid and the truth was, he didn't cheat on her, he wouldn't. At least not intentionally.
"Nah, it's always your business J. Chill with that. Yanisa is here for business. I told you before and I'll tell you again. I don't and I did not fuck that girl."
There was a knock on the door that cut their conversation short, "the food is ready y'all, come eat."
Stefon followed Jade out of their bedroom into the family room. He couldn't believe how his family set him up like that.
The ladies went in one direction with Aaiden and the other kids while the men went outside by the fire. "Why y'all ain't tell me Jade was coming?"
"I really ain't think she was going to. Aaiden called her every day this week to see if she was." Trevon shrugged. "Okay well, look at the mess I'm in now."
"Bro, ain't nobody tell you to bring the bitch you fucked." Darez laughed. Stefon didn't understand why no one believed him. "I didn't fuck that girl. What is wrong with y'all?"
"Forreal? Damn, I definitely believed it." Darez shrugged.
"Shit, me too." Trevon chuckled.
"Who told y'all that?" Trevon and Darez looked at one another. "Listen, from the way Jade was acting to the blogs, It made sense. And you ain't say nothing."
"Well shit man, I ain't wanna talk about it. Jade was accusing me and shit but, I never touched that girl."
"You touch anybody else?" Stefon was quiet for a moment. "That's fucked up bro."
Stefon shook his head, "Nah, it's not like that. Me and Jade had problems when we were in college, but that's cause I was flirting with bitches. I never cheated on her."
It was true, Stefon never cheated on Jade. He wasn't attentive, he was standoffish and all around irritable because of work. Their fighting effected how they raised their daughter and that was something that put Jade over the edge. Jade didn't hesitate to leave.
"So what you about to do?" Darez asked.
"About to get my girl back. I want her and Nova back in Buffalo full time. Ima marry her." Stefon declared.
"Are you gonna marry her because you love her, or because you don't want nobody else to have her?"
"Shit, I could ask you the same the way you dragging Sierra along." Stefon was tired of his younger brothers acting like they were morally above him, when they did the same if not worse.
"It's not about me right now." Trevon defended.
"But Stef is right. Y'all both need to get that shit together. Either love them right or leave them. This half way in and out shit? Dad wouldn't even be proud of.""You gonna be okay in here?" Stefon had showered and changed, all he needed was a blanket so he could sleep on the couch. "You don't have to leave Marsean."
"I don't want you to be uncomfortable."
Jade would be fine with him in the room, she would actually prefer it if he stayed. It was dark outside of the bedroom windows. Not regular dark, but in the middle of nowhere dark.
"I rather you stay."
"You sure?"Stef for comfortable in bed, making sure to leave enough space. He knew he needed a healthy distance or else they would be in a compromising position. They could co-parent with no issue, but crossing the line wouldn't benefit them. Especially if there was no trust between the two.
