Two weeks later

At this point Devin was annoyed with himself that he kept this pursuit up. He was sick of being ignored and it again bruised his ego. She was truly her father's daughter. Laila rarely ever showed up to games so he couldn't catch her there and he didn't know where she worked. She mentioned the spas but never specified which ones.

Damion would know.

"DLee!" Devin quickly shuffled to where his teammate sat on the sidelines and sat beside him. "What's up man?"

"Things are good. Family is good. I was just watching a video of Daxon going over his alphabet." He showed Devin a quick clip of Daxon being the cutest baby boy.

"Wow, he seems like such a happy baby."

"He is man. I love him to death. But what's going on with you. Seems like you got something on your mind?"

If there was a teammate he would let in on his schemes, it wasn't Damion. He was too wholesome to be caught up in his mess. But this was the only person who could help him. Sydel being his wife was a key in getting closer to Laila as is.

"So I need some help. I'm really trying to get to know this girl and she's playing it hard. I know you know her so I'm coming to you for an assist."

Damion squinted his eyes at Devin before looking around. Making sure that no one else was listening, he leaned in closer, "What girl?"

"Laila."

Damion snickered before giving a hearty laugh, "You want a shot at Laila? Laila Williams? That's like fighting against Thanos with no Avengers. You must like danger."

Yes, yes he did.

"What can I say?" Devin smirked but Damion didn't return it. "Listen man, you're a cool guy. But I'm not about to set Laila up to be played. You don't take anything seriously enough. She's family, can't risk it."

"Really man? I'm trying to be serious."

"Okay, well start by not treating everything like a game. That's a start. You need friends, not another woman with her head on your pillow." Damion shook his head before grabbing his things and walking away.

The next teammate he would go to was Cam Payne. He would sometimes indulge in Devin's bullshit and that meant, he could probably get something out of him. Cam of course, in the locker room goofing off.

"Cam!"
"What's up Book?"

"I need to ask you something." Cam was intrigued from the gate, he knew it was bound to be something juicy. "Like what?"

"What you know about Baby Williams?"
"Shit, what you wanna know?"

"Miss Williams." Laila looked up from her laptop to see one of the supervisors in the doorway. "I told you, you can call me Laila. What's up?"

"These came for you." The young woman brought in a beautiful arrangement in a vase, placing it on the desk. "Thank you Kayla." Once Kayla closed the office door, Laila examined the bouquet for a note.

Some sunshine for real star in Scottsdale.

This was something. Laila barely spoke to Devin, within reason. She had no reason to talk to him. They weren't friends and they honestly never crossed paths. She stay away from her father's job unless someone absolutely needed her in the building.
Laila did like the flowers, they were some of her favorites. Which was odd because who knew what she liked?
