4 Months Later.....
Spring semester was far different than the fall. The Wildcats won their regional championship and they were now at the end of March Madness. The team traveled to Miami for the event and it was bound to be something.
Sonja rolled her eyes at the third group of girls who surrounded the team as they navigated through the lobby of the hotel they were staying in.
It was spring break for Villanova and instead of going anywhere else, Sonja and Rubi came to support them in the final four game. She hadn't seen Josh in person for a month and it was the longest they stayed away from each other.
"Fix your face Sonja." Rubi giggled as she watched her friend turn red. "Fine." She huffed feeling annoyed with herself for being jealous.
Christmas was a true eye opener for her, their gift exchange was a bit more emotional than she imagined due to the meaning behind each gift they got one another. Sonja realized she was in love with him and her biggest priority was not ruining their friendship over it.
That was failing.
To say their dynamic changed is an understatement. They argued more now than they ever did. Neither would admit their feelings and it was tearing them apart.
"Look at my favorite people." Donte smiled as he group hugged them. "Don't let Paige hear you say that." Sonja joked.
Paige was Donte's best friend and people would always make fun of them, saying they were in love.
See the irony?
"She should be down here soon, so y'all get to see her." Sonja and Rubi liked Paige. When she would visit from Penn State, they would always hang out for the weekend and let the boys be the boys.
Josh looked over to where Donte walked and sighed. He was not in the mood for Sonja's attitude. He knew she had one. Before she got here they argued over who would be getting them from the airport.
He didn't have an answer for that and she didn't understand why when he was the main person campaigning for her to spend her break watching basketball. The conversation ended with her hanging up on him. Josh didn't have the energy to argue so he didn't call back. He hasn't spoken to her since then.
Jalen walked over first and Mikal followed, Josh stayed with the other teammates.
"Y'all still trippin I see." Jalen laughed as he hugged Sonja. "Who?"
"You and Hart acting like an old marry couple. Y'all not ruining this weekend with that bullshit." Mikal warned.
He personally was sick of their back and forth, he knew how they felt about each other and didn't understand how people with great communication turned into this.
"I didn't even do anything."
Mikal gave Sonja a look that ran deep in the Bridges family. She had no response for it and she definitely wasn't going to speak to Josh unless he apologized for being stupid.
"Hey Rubi." Josh gave her a quick hug before turning to Sonja. "Hey Play."
"Mhm." She hummed, rolling her eyes to match. He smacked his teeth, choosing to walk away.
"See, the shit I'm talking about." Mikal pointed. Sonja shrugged, she didn't care and wouldn't see herself as wrong in any way.
"Man fuck him."
"I heard that Sonja." Josh responded not bothering to look up from his phone. "You were meant to."
She rolled her suitcase past everyone to the elevator. Everyone looked at Josh as he looked at them with an unreadable expression. "Man go fix that. We don't wanna hear it all week." Donte groaned.
