For The District x A New Era

Hey y'all! I'm just here to talk about one of the best trips I've ever been on. I'm home and settled in a space and can finally pull my thoughts together.

At the top of 2023 mzz_perez expressed wanting to go to a game for her birthday and at the time San Francisco was the location. I mean it was the perfect story. The beach, the boy, the team, the vibes everyone wanted to see in person. You would think that the trade completely ruined the delusion but, it didn't. Soon the California dreams melted into the Pacific Ocean and the trip redirected to the East Coast.

Washington, D.C. feels like down the street and around the corner to me because I've been so many times. I love that city. This meant it would be 110% no reason for me to miss it cause, I would just have to be on my death bed to do so.

Imagine this app bringing you more than votes, reads and occasional drama? Well in this case it did. Contrary to popular belief, making friends on the internet isn't superficial or weird. It's truly a network.

On to the fun, as the days got closer to fall in DC, the trip almost didn't happen! Every kind of roadblock jumped in the way but victory prevail. Arriving first, I was able to check into the hotel and eventually create a whole set up that included balloons and a cake.

Fourteen naturally blown pink balloons later and one fatality (because why did one balloon already have a hole in it?), the surprise did its job.

(Wish the hotel had color ink but whateva, whateva!)

We spent Thursday night just relaxing and talking about our travel stories, mine far better than hers but we were both safe and that's what mattered.

Friday, oh that was something. We attended the National Museum of African American History or as I like to call it, the Museum of Niggas. You know museums take an eternity to travel through and I didn't mind going through it, again and again. This would be my third? Fourth time?  Doesn't matter, I suggest a walk through every time. I mentioned I feel refreshed and inspired every time I leave there.

The darnedest thing happened, as we travel through the Era of Segregation, we ran into Joan Trumpauer. If you don't know who that is, she's a civil rights activist known for this popular photo. She's also a, as she emphasized "not honorary but a due paying member" of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
