I think this man is so fine.

Jade looked over the itinerary for the weekend again as her pedicure session was coming to an end. She knew she should've declined the invite to this very close knit family event, but her heart couldn't disappoint a little boy who always favored her.

The next week would be spent in the space with people she loved and those who loved her, but that amount of love came with a price. She would be on vacation with her ex and his family.

Stefon and Jade were together a year in college, broke up to focus on their careers, reunited years later and were together for four years. They had now been broken up for seven months now and although they had been apart for longer before, it was different this time.

The breakup was fairly private considering, media suspected they were no more, but the work schedules worked so that it didn't cause too much attention. Jade didn't post on social media anymore and Stefon would only post about endorsements or football and sometimes their daughter Nova. Their friends and family knew the truth.

"Jade thank God you're here. I was losing my fucking mind." Sierra groaned as she pushed Jade back out the front door. "Whoa whoa whoa, what's going on?"

"Stephanie and her list of to-do is driving me up a wall. I just wanna go already."

Sierra is Aaiden's mother and Trevon's on and off girlfriend. A pattern in the Diggs family. "What kind of shit could she have us doing and we still have to get in the car to drive. Speaking of... why are we driving?"

Stephanie Diggs, matriarch to the Diggs clan loved the idea of family. At all times, she strived for them to get together outside of football games and holidays. Right now she was catering to her first grandchild's dream vacation in the mountains for a snow filled weekend to celebrate his birthday.

They were all gathered in Buffalo to drive out to the resorts in Toronto. "Like driving to another country is cute cause it's right here... but there's a reason half of us are in Dallas."

Jade and Stefon lived in Buffalo but for the past few months she was in Manhattan while he traveled the world for work. He hated being away from both of them and that's a small part of the reason they broke up.

"I'm here all the time, you think I like Buffalo?"

Sierra waved her off, "Oh please, you just came back. Speaking of where is my Nova?"

"With my parents in Jersey." Nova was young and she didn't think it made sense to bring a toddler to the ski resort. "Does Stef even know I'm here?"

Before Sierra could answer, Stephanie was calling everyone into the living room.

"I'm so glad that most of you are here on time. We're gonna drive over to Toronto and then my eldest will meet us there. His flight got delayed and it would be easier for him to meet us there."

Passport checks at the border went smoothly, the resort was absolutely breathtaking and overlooked the falls. Their rooms in their cabins were spacious and of course, the name on her door was alongside another.

Stefon & Jade

It must've been a sick joke to place them into the same room because they hadn't spoken outside of caring for Nova. Barely saw each other in passing.

She loved the lighting in the bedroom

She loved the lighting in the bedroom. And knew she would get great sleep in here. Opening her suitcase, Jade grabbed a fleece from to wear around the house with her fuzzy socks. The fleece belonged to Stefon in college, she still wore it to this day.

"We getting started on the dinner for tonight chile, come on Jadey!" Stephanie called.

Aaiden's smile lit up the room as he ran into Jade's arms, "Auntie Jade! You made it, I'm so happy. All of my favorite people are gonna be here."

Letting Aaiden down, she watched as he ran out of the living room and back into the kitchen. "What Y'all in here making?"

"This is how I know you didn't read the last page of the itinerary." Stephanie handed over a copy for Jade to flip through. She didn't understand why this paper was on the back in the first place.

"D, you ain't have to even go there." Trevon laughed re-entering the cabin with wood for the fireplace. "I lie to you not, I wasn't lying! They needed to know that the niggas they were fawning over wasn't THEM!"

"What y'all yelling about?" Sierra mugged as they came into the kitchen. "Man, I'm just telling Von how the last time I went out with Stef, these women were hype of the drug dealer types who had fake bottles in their section."

"Speaking of, what is taking y'all brother so damn long?"

"Probably fucking some bitch, who knows." Jade mumbled it, but everyone in the kitchen heard. Looking up she quickly apologized, not wanting it to be awkward.

"She might not be far off, cause look." Everyone's attention went to the front door as Stefon and Yanisa walked in.

"Hey family, y'all missed me?" Stefon asked earning the biggest hug from his nephew, which his mother and brothers soon following. Once the crowd cleared, he laid eyes on Jade who held her blank stare.

She walked out of the room, into what was supposed to be their shared bedroom. She couldn't believe he had the audacity to step into that cabin with the woman she confronted him about seven months ago, the same woman who would call him at all times of the night, the one who fucked her way into getting a job as his assistant.
