"Adel, you okay?" Jonathan reentered her suite, she wasn't in the living room like he left her. He wasn't sure how to approach the situation because she seemed like she didn't care.
Adel did care, the whole arranged marriage and cheating scandal started to get under her skin. She was embarrassed, and felt like a complete failure.
"Adel?" He softly spoke entering her bedroom. "Talk to me."
"Jona, why does this keep happening to me?" She sighed, "What do I keep doing wrong?"
Jonathan never had much time to reflect on what happened between him and Adeline. He never got to heal from it, but most importantly he didn't understand what it did to her. She blamed herself for break up, blamed herself for not being able to move forward, and ultimately blamed herself for getting into this situation.
"It's not your fault. But you can change it."
Adel woke up later that morning in Jonathan's arms. They were talking and next thing she knew the sun was out. She slowly adjusted, not wanting to wake him. She knew she had to prepare for whatever the day held for her. A knock at the door, centered her actions.
"Delly it's me." Opening the door, Adel and Asani stared at each other before they engulfed each other in a hug. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, it's whatever."
"You should get dressed, dad called a meeting with the Joneses."
Adel wasn't sure what they could be meeting for but she went on anyways. Taking a quick shower, and changing into a simple jumpsuit, Adel followed Asani to the meeting room on site. The energy once they walked through the wooden doors was intense. Trey wouldn't look up but, he was holding his eye and Fredrick had the meanest scowl on his face.
"Now that everyone is here. Let's begin." Laurent stood in front of the room, instantly commanding attention. "As we've all been made aware, Trey not only breached his contract but he compromised both himself and my daughter. This is not only embarrassing but it is gonna cost a pretty penny."
Laurent was going to get his money back from this wedding that cost a fortune. He had the money, the principle was driving force in his fight against the Jones family.
"And don't think I don't know what you did in the polo race. You're lucky all you got was a black eye. Is there anything you have to say before we leave?"
Trey looked up from the ice pack and looked at Adel, who really didn't have a reaction to any of this. She wanted to go back to sleep.
"He doesn't have to say anything. But I would like to pack so I can get back and get ready for my exams."
"I'm sorry Adeline."
"Yeah, me too." She grabbed her bag, heading to the door, "You ready Sani?"
Adel and Asani walked the beach as they wanted some of their friends and family check out of their rooms and wait for their shuttles to the airport.
"What's next little sister?"
Adel just wanted to finish school and move to Houston or LA. Somewhere warm, and somewhere fresh.
"Finish school and move, the original plan." She shrugged enjoying the sand between her toes. "Trey was stopping that."
"Well... now that you're single." Asani started, Adel knew exactly where this was going and she was going to put a stop to it. "No, nope. I'm not going back down that road again."
"He came all this way."
"And that's on him. Why are you campaigning for me to get back with Jona?"
"Because you love him! You know you do."
