Elliot was walking into work, head low not making eye contact or speaking a word to anyone. He clocked in and go into the truck slamming the passenger side door awaiting for his dad who gathering bags out of the trunk of his car.

He put one bag on his shoulder and carried the other shutting and locking the truck proceeding to walk up the driveway of the station.

Luke clocked in and said hi to a few people then got to the rig opening the back door shoving everything inside, he saw the back of Elliot's head from where he was but didn't say anything until he got into the drivers side.

"Hey morning. Did you go to the gym or something this morning? Because I saw you left very early."

Elliot groaned, he seemed pretty disappointed and annoyed at something.

"It's fine, it's fine." Elliot waved him off.

"Okay, do you want me to get you a coffee from McDonald's?"

"Sure." Elliot mumbled and Luke backed out of the station and headed a few blocks over to McDonald's where he got two coffees, two egg McMuffins and two hash browns and then proceeded to drive around the neighborhood waiting for the tones to drop.

The rig was silent except for the sounds of sipping and chewing.

Luke looked over at his son when they stopped at a red light "are you sure everything's alright? Because whatever happened can interfere with your work today. I need all hands on deck and I need your head in the game."

There was about a minutes worth of silence after Luke spoke. "Actually Dad.."

"Yeah what is it?"

"It's not gonna work out with me and Stephanie."

"What? No? Really?"

Luke could not believe it.

"Yeah, she broke up with me last night.. she's leaving EMS because she can't handle it and her family wants to get a fresh start somewhere else that isn't Martinsburg." Elliot finally revealed still in shock and disappointment.

"Oh, I'm really sorry about that Elliot. Everything happens for a reason. Not everyone is cut out for his kind of job. It was probably too much, sometimes people have to do what they can to protect their mental stability." Luke explained as he made a left turn down a random side street.

"Do you know what triggered her to call it quits?"

"Bad call I think." Elliot wasn't too sure scratching his head. "She's young Elliot. She's nineteen, she's got a life time to figure out what makes her tick in life. If her leaving Martinsburg helps her then good on her. I'm so sorry that things didn't work out between you and her but there's others out there."

"Yeah I know but we've been together three years. It feels like we just met now it's over."

"Sometimes relationships go by fast. It actually blows my mind that your mom and I have been together over twenty years. I never thought I'd find the one you know? I just knew from the moment I saw your mother that she was the one.. she had been the missing piece I was looking for. She has done so much for me and I'm grateful for every single day. She's my world, my best friend. I hope my kids get to find someone just like that one day." When Luke gushed about Sabrina his whole body just lit up, it actually made Elliot feel a lot better.

"Wow dad, that's incredible. I do hope I get to have a relationship like you and Mom one day. It's very balanced and loving, it's definitely a partnership and no matter how many years go by I can still see the romance between you two."

"Thanks, I'm glad we can be a model couple for our children. Like I said your mother is the absolute love of my life. Every time I see her and her beauty I just fall in love all over again."
