*several months have passed by*
it's been several months since the Iris incident. Since then, she recovered, eventually completing her eating disorder treatment getting discharged happier and healthier.
Luke was thrilled how much Iris improved, mentally, emotionally and physically. He hugged her before he wheeled her down to the parking garage where her family was. She even gave him a handwritten thank you note which he now keeps in his wallet as a reminder to why he took up the job of nursing.
With how much time has passed, Elsie went off to college in Delaware, excited to be in a new place and studying what she always wanted to study: elementary education.
Sabrina was a bit emotional having to drop her off at her dorm but quickly got over it once she saw how happy her daughter was.
Elsie's joy and happiness was short lived, because halfway through the semester she called Luke crying saying she was miserable in Delaware, the courses she were in was boring and her major was not what she thought it would be like.
After multiple conversations and some pleading, her parents allowed her to drop out, and Luke went to pick her up. They had a long conversation on the way back to West Virginia.
Elsie revealed that she's been doing some research and rather try out vocational school. She said becoming a radiologist seems interesting.
Luke liked hearing how she was taking interest in healthcare. Maybe him and Elliot inspired her?
After doing some research, making phone calls and sending emails, she managed to find a school willing to except a late applicant.
On her first day, it was quite surreal seeing Elsie come down in the kitchen wearing blue scrubs carrying a bag and car keys. Luke came in a little while later carrying a back pack dressed in blue scrubs ready for his shift at the hospital.
He promised Elsie that she could drive to the school while Luke sat in the passenger (he would then drive himself to work after that)
His smile was beaming as he watched his daughter walk through the entrance of the building. He knew she was determined and ready to help people.
Fast forward a few weeks after that, clinicals were starting, some people got placed in our patient radiology facilities while others got placed in hospitals. Elsie was one of many to be placed in a hospital, Saint Peters to be exact.
While Elsie was beginning to learn her way around X rays, CAT scans and MRI's her dad was back working another stint in the emergency room.
Luke was busy, constantly on his feet dealing with intense cases and minor cases, which was probably the reason why he's been sick and coughing for over a month now. He tries to suppress it and shake it off, but some people around him would raise their brows and ask "are you okay?" And he'd wave them off.
Sometimes the coughing, congestion and sore throats came in waves, it got to a point where he couldn't ignore the prolonged sickness anymore causing himself to consult with many doctors on his breaks, one of them willing to write a script for him to get blood work done.
One day on his lunch break, he caught Sierra walking out of the bathroom he stopped her in her tracks. "Hey, are you busy right now?" He asked, his arms folded loosely in front of his body.
"I don't think so? Why? You need something?" She asked, noticing that he was holding a paper in his hand that was folded over.
"I know we haven't really seen much of each other the past few weeks but somethings up with me, I can't shake this cold or virus or whatever I have. I have been talking with people in the pulmonary department and ENT department and they said with how long I have been sick isn't good. One of them gave me a script for blood work"
