"Hey am I late?" Luke questioned running from his car that he had parked in front of the house.

Sabrina heard Luke because she had the front window open letting the fresh may air fill the house.

"No" Sabrina responded, sticking her head out the window.

"Where's Elsie? Her friends are gonna be showing up soon for pre prom pictures."

"I know, Luke, just come in here." She said motioning for him and he walked up the two front steps and opened up the door to get into the house. He put his stuff down on the counter and Sabrina walked over to where he was.

"I honestly thought I was late, I rushed home as soon as I saw the time, despite the crazy day I had." Luke giggled slightly at the end of his sentence. "No you're fine. You don't need to apologize. If anything your daughter is going to be the late one and make everyone else late." Sabrina explained kissing his husbands cheek.

"Who's helping her with her hair? Didn't she want everything curled and in an updo?" Luke made a funny gesture with his hands.

"She's doing it, she's following a tutorial on YouTube. Eloise offered to do some of it but she said having a second person will mess it up." This time Luke jokingly rolled his eyes at his wife's words "teenagers"

"Yeah tell me about it"

"Is Elliot going to be apart of the pictures?"

"He should be, he texted me that he'll be home before 6pm and it's 5:41 now so he should be right on time"

"Good because Elsie's friends will be starting to come after 6pm"

5 minutes go by.

There's a ring at the door, "I'll get it" Luke's voice echoed throughout the first floor of the house.

Luke opened the door seeing Elsie's friend Jamie standing their arm and arm with her date. "I know we're early but Leo didn't want to be late"

"That's fine, come on in! I like how you're both are matching! Anyways, Elsie should be down in a few minutes just hangout in the living room. Eloise come here and offer the guests water or sparkling lemonade"

Eloise came rushing down the stairs, panic all over her face. "I walked past Elsie's room and I heard her crying"

"You heard her crying?" Luke asked, standing near Eloise. "Yeah, she has the door closed but I'm pretty sure I heard her crying in there."

Sabrina tried to bypass Luke but he stopped her, "don't worry, I'll go talk to her" and he excused himself from the guests and went up the stairs to his oldest daughters room.

He walked slowly, pausing briefly before knocking on the door, "Elsie, are you ready yet? A couple of your friends are downstairs waiting for you. Can I come in?"

"Uh yeah" she hesitated and Luke opened the door seeing his daughter sitting at her make up table, dress on and hair half done.

"I'm glad you chose the dress in blue the red and white ones weren't as snazzy as the one you're wearing now"

He approached her slowly trying to not upset or bother her any further. "Do you need help finishing your hair? You seemed stressed out."

She started crying over Luke's words again, "what's wrong? Aren't you excited for prom? Do you need help getting ready? Are you stressed?"

"Help me" she whimpered pointing to the curling iron that was plugged in and he started curling the stair hair on the back of her head.

Then as he looked at his daughter's reflection through the mirror he noticed something. "Did you get make up on your dress? Is that why you're upset?"
