Luke took a few days off work after what went down with Layla and her family in the surgical unit. He needed time to unwind his thoughts and regroup himself.
When Luke came back to work he decided he wanted to go back to the psych floor, seeing new faces and familiar faces as he took over doing rounds across the floor.
He walked into Iris's room first seeing that she was asleep and he tried not to wake her but every time he walked the floor creaked a little bit. He proceeded to go over to the closed curtain pushing it open slowly he was shocked to see who was sitting there looking bored. "Gaby, oh my god, I never thought that I'd see you here! Are you okay?"
Gaby sighed a little at first, "I was having chest pains and trouble breathing so I thought I was having a heart attack so I took myself to the emergency room. They ran tests and said my heart was fine but they also said it was one of the worst panic attacks they've ever seen and wanted me to get specific treatment for that"
"Oh wow! I'm glad it wasn't a heart attack!"
"Yeah but I told them if I was going to get specific treatment for the panic attacks I wanted you to be the one leading my case. I don't trust other people's judgement and at least I know that you'll approach this rationally and treat me like an actual human being"
"Oh that's so nice of you to say! I'm sorry that you're going through this but you have to know that you can't be mad at yourself for having bad days. Bad days just signify that there's good days ahead" Luke explained smiling while holding a clipboard in hand.
"I just never experienced anything like that before, Luke, it was so scary. I was hyperventilating and it felt like someone was squeezing my chest. I hope I never experience anything like that again." Gaby sighed scratching her arm where her IV was placed.
Luke's eyes skimmed over Gabys chart for a brief moment. "I see they have you on a low dose benzodiazepine. How do you feel?"
"Definitely a bit better than I was before, but also a little sleepy and a little nauseous."
"Okay, sometimes you have to wait for your body to adjust. Would you want me to run down to the cafeteria real quick and get you ginger ale? I mean it's the least I can do since you've done so much for me especially with the podcast and all" Luke gave a small smile while jotting something down quickly.
"You don't have to Luke, but it's your call"
"It's fine. I can step out quickly" Luke smiled again and turned around leaving Gabys side of the room once again, slipping past Iris who was still asleep, briefly glancing at the monitors as he went by, everything appeared to be normal at that moment.
as Gaby laid on the bed looking upward while counting the ceiling tiles to pass time while waiting for Luke to come back, she began to hear some noise from her roommate who was beginning to moan and groan like they were in pain.
Gaby went from the laying position to sitting at the edge of the cot "hey are you okay over there?" She called out but was met with more noises that sounded like pain.
Gaby began to feel uncomfortable getting up and started pushing away at the call button hoping someone would come through and see what's wrong.
She pushed it six times at least and no one responded "HEY CAN SOMEONE PLEASE COME IN HERE!" She shouted, a voice responding with, "IRIS ENOUGH ALREADY WE'LL DEAL WITH YOU LATER! We've been over this you can't leave yet and you're not the only person on this floor"
Gaby got angry, slamming the call button again "HELP US IN HERE! HELP" she called out again, Luke was making his way up the hallway carrying a soda and clipboard hearing the loud voice.
