48 hours later..

"Did something happen?" Luke mumbled opening eyes, seeing two figures standing over him in protective gear. "Mr Hemmings you spiked a fever and passed out."

"What? How can that be? How long was I out for?" He asked, a bit disheveled, as he was trying to make sense of everything.

"You've been down for almost two days."

Luke shot up from the bed because he was freaked out over all the time that passed. "What? How is that possible? How's Eloise?"

"Your daughter is okay, she's sleeping, she woke up for a few hours and ate a meal and went back to sleep."

"How did I miss that? How's she doing? What kind of infection did she catch?"

"The test results are inconclusive right now, we decided to run some additional tests and see what those say."

"Please fix her, don't worry about me" Luke whined, trying to get up but the two physicians didn't allow him to. "Sir you need to take a deep breath and calm down, we'll get to the bottom of your illnesses in the meantime you and your daughter need to rest and let us do our jobs."

"But I'm feeling fine, let me go"

"We can't, your temp spiked to almost 104°, and you fainted, we can't risk you getting sicker or risk you spreading the illness any further."

Now Luke crossed his arms, pissed off at the orders. "Fine" Luke grumbled, the doctors giving him a final look up and down before walking over to Eloise checking her vitals then left the room.

As soon as they left, Luke felt his phone vibrating from underneath his body. He pulled it out, seeing that it was on the last 10% his notifications from the local news station going crazy. All the headlines very similar.

He quickly scrolled through seeing the words "paramedic", "crash" and "airlifted" before his phone battery decided to give out turning his phone completely off "dammit!" He yelled slammed his phone onto the table beside himself.

There was a few moments of quiet, till Luke got startled by loud footsteps and people running and talking real loud (the isolation room, had one way glass so Luke was able to see out of it but no one going by can see into it) he saw doctors, surgeons and nurses rushing with a bunch of equipment heading toward the ER.

In all the months he's worked there he never ever saw anything like that before.

As it started to quiet down again, he looked over at Eloise, making sure she was okay, despite the chaos, she slept through it, Luke sighing a huge breath of relief.

Then the loudness started up again, this time Luke head loud foot steps coming toward his room, a voice calling his name. "LUKE! LUKE!"
the voice grew louder and louder and they started banging on the metal door with their hands. "LUKE! LUKE! LUKE!"

Luke jumped off the bed, "what? Sierra is that you?"

"Yeah it's me! It's urgent?"

"What? What is it?" He questioned disconnecting himself from the monitor and IV fluids. "Luke it's Elliot!"

Luke rushed over toward the door so he could hear Sierra better. "What? What's wrong with Elliot?"

"You don't know? It's all over the news?"

"What? What's all over the news?"

"A drunk cab driver hit Elliot's ambulance on the highway, there was flames and smoke everywhere. They airlifted Elliot here, I'm not sure about his partner though."

"What the fuck? You're kidding right?"

Luke was in complete disbelief.

"Are you sure it was Elliot? Does Sabrina now? Elsie? I haven't heard from anyone. Plus my phones dead"

"Yeah I'm not sure either but they shut down the ER because of this and they want all hands on deck, I'm going there now."

Luke gulped hard, "I gotta go and see him"

"Luke you can't, you and Eloise are in isolation with unknown illness you guys can infect the entire hospital if this isn't taken serious enough."

"I don't fucking care, Sierra, I have to see my son."

"Luke we got it, we'll take care of it, take care of yourself and your daughter first."

"Let me out of this fucking room, Sierra!" Luke raised his voice, trying to get Sierra to comply with his order.

"I can't, I can't. You know I can't."

"Sierra you're my best friend! You have to let out so I can see my son!"

"No I can't Luke-"

Sierras pager started going nuts, Sierra pulled it from her pocket, "Look, I have to go, they're looking for more nurses, someone will update you soon"

"Sierra!! Wait!"" He screamed but Sierra didn't listen she started jogging away heading for the ER.

"Someone get me out of this fucking room!" Luke threw his arms up in the air wanting someone to listen and grant his wish. And more importantly he hoped and prayed that Elliot was alright.
