"Wow you look very festive" Sabrina complimented as Luke zipped up his jacket in the kitchen. "Thanks same to you."
"You're the perfect Mrs Claus." Luke smirked getting turned on by his wife's outfit.
"Thanks you're the perfect Mr Claus" she let out a giggle Luke smirking harder.
"Hey we're gonna be late!" Eloise ran around grabbing her jacket and her hat and scarf.
Their daughter interrupted the moment causing Luke to snap out of it and he looked at the time "oh shit she's right we gotta go." And he rushed everyone to grab everything and head out the door.
Tonight was the annual Martinsburg Christmas tree lighting and festival not only was it an important yearly event but it was the first time that Luke was going to be in charge of officially initiating the lighting of the tree. It was nerve wracking because hundreds of people gathered each year to see the tree, have some food and donate toys to the underprivileged children in the community.
When they got to the station they parked in the parking lot and proceeded to get out grabbing a few things from the trunk heading toward the street seeing at the remainder booths were getting set up. The young medics already set up the medic booth and Luke was impressed with what Elliot and the others came up with "it's very festive and we can still tell it's a medic booth. I'm impressed." He gave them compliments liking how the tent had Christmas lights and bows but also advertised available medic and EMT jobs.
"Do any of you know where the toy donation box is? I have some last minute stuff for it." One of the medics pointed up the road and Luke carried a huge box of stuff where a stage was beside the community tree. He spoke with the mayor getting all the last minute things in order.
It was obvious that Luke was nervous because he fumbled over some of his words and paced back and forth and kept wiping his hands on his pants.
As the sun started setting, people flooded the streets and the freezing temperatures settled in, not too long until the tree would be lit symbolizing the official start of the Christmas season in Martinsburg.
Elliot happily ran the medic booth, Eloise and Elsie stayed together going from each booth seeing what kind of presents they could buy their parents and Sabrina was at the hot chocolate booth sampling their spiked hot chocolate trying to stay warm, mad at the fact that she was wearing a skimpy costume and not a warm enough jacket.
Luke walked up and down the streets spacing out at one point accidentally waking face first into someone "ooof I'm sorry" he apologized bouncing back shaking his head. "Sierra!" He exclaimed realizing it was her with Maisie who was all bundled up, already in her walking stages holding onto her mother's finger. "It's so nice to see you!" He said thrilled to see her and his niece.
"Where's the others?"
"They're home, Lucy's got a cold and I didn't want Maisie to miss out on seeing her Uncle light the very famous Christmas tree." She smiled, Luke realizing that it was an actual genuine smile and he hasn't seen that in the longest time from her. "Oh poor Lucy, I hope she gets better soon."
"She'll be okay, she's got medicine, soup and she's watching Blues Clues. I promised to take plenty of pictures and videos for her."
Luke crouched down, "thank you for coming Maisie, can I get a high five?" He put his hand up and Maisie started giggling giving a tiny high five with her mitten covered hand. "Smart girl. Stay warm for Uncle Lu, okay? If it gets too much have Mommy bring you into the station okay?" Maisie giggled and Luke got up from the pavement. "But really Sierra thank you for coming out here today, it means a lot."
