Recapping the last few weeks:

Sabrina woke up one morning with a swollen and painful neck.

She freaked out and called Luke at work who told her to be seen by a doctor as soon as possible.

She did what he said, finding out that her thyroid was going through a bad time, and was given medicine to hopefully get things back to normal and in order.

Fast forward things seemed to be going in the right direction and then nothing more seemed to happen, she was in pain, had issues swallowing, was very fatigued and just felt miserable.

She saw a bunch of doctors, then eventually coming to a conclusion that her thyroid was not functioning. It basically stopped and the medication did little to nothing to fix it and now she would have to get surgery to remove it and be put on medication for life to supplement the loss of the organ.

Sabrina was frightened about the idea of surgery and the long term outcome. The only other time she had surgery was when she had a c section when she gave birth to Elsie, and even that was a mind bottling experience.

The good thing was she had Luke, and Luke was able to help her stop spiraling off into the deep end. He helped her understand all the craziness and made some arrangements to make sure as many things as possible were in Sabrina's control.

Luke was a very well liked guy so his requests were granted and on the day of surgery he scrubbed in with the team, being dawned in the surgical gown and attire, cap, gloves and masks too.

Luke's stent in the ER didn't last long, he didn't feel like he belonged so he started asking around and they began training him as a nurse anesthetist which basically is either someone who works underneath the general anesthesiologist during procedures or works alone doing anything from twilight sedation to full anesthesia.

Since he was a medic, and had extensive training in airway control it was pretty easy for him to learn additional techniques and skills. He worked under the top general anesthesiologist for weeks getting the okay to fully be in charge of administrating his wife's anesthesia and monitoring her and the doses while she gets her surgery.

Usually, hospitals didn't want family working on family but in this case it was important, Sabrina has some specific allergies that Luke understood more than other doctors, and he just wanted to be sure that no one would screw up or ignore this information.

Now Luke was standing in the middle of operating room, double checking his supplies and medications while the surgeons and nurses did last minute preparations.

Soon enough, Sabrina was wheeled In, and she already had the look  of panic and upset on her face.

Sabrina went from wheel chair to bed and laid down, a bright white light in her eyes as she looked up.

Luke turned around, not expecting Sabrina to be in there already. "Wow that was fast! You're all checked in and they got a line going too even better." He grinned standing over his wife trying to get her to focus on him.

"I'm not liking this, I don't like this already Luke" she started doubting shaking her head speaking in a soft yet negative tone.

"I know I get it. I totally get it Sabrina. Your feelings are totally normal. Don't sweat it." He validated her feelings and he picked up a fresh package of electrodes tearing the top off to open it.

"Don't mind me, just keep chatting I have to put these on you so we can monitor you throughout." He smiled again pulling the top part of Sabrina's gown down and he started sticking the electrodes on her chest.
