the ambulance pulled up to the ambulance bay, Sierra coming to the back of the rig opening the door she signaled at Elliot to help her as they unloaded the deceased patient. Luke stood up from his seat baby still against his chest he watched quietly as the two other medics took away the first patient.

Luke took his time and climbed out keeping a firm grip on the infant boy who seemed pretty calm but periodically made some noise.

Luke walked into the emergency room moments later hearing the screams of family members as they were being ushered into a room to say goodbye to their loved one. Luke gave Sierra and Elliot the "look" as he watched them transfer care over to the doctors and nurses.

Luke kept walking trying to keep the baby as calm as he can despite the chaos they were passing on the left.

At the end of the ER a nurse from the NICU stopped the medic and the baby. He knew that nurse was for him because she had on white scrubs with looney tune characters on them, her hair was tied in a low bun and she was wearing round clear glasses and she addressed him as Captain Hemmings.

Luke stopped the nurse opened up her arms and Luke transferred the infant to her, the baby boy was half asleep and drooling. Luke gave a report explaining as much as he could, the nurse took mental notes than started walking away. Luke remained where he was watching the pair disappear.

Then the nurse stopped with the infant in her arms and turned a little looking back at the medic who didn't know what to do with himself in the ER. "You can come along too" she said and Luke jogged up to them and started to walk along side of them.

"How long have you been in pediatrics?" He asked being very curious. "Ten years but eight of them have been in the NICU I just love these little guys so much. Babies need us." Luke smiled softly "yeah they're the future they have their whole lives ahead of them. Someone's gotta be willing to help these littles. How did you know that this is what you wanted to do?"

They now got into an elevator were the nurse used her free hand to click the button for the top floor which was the pediatric floor.

"Honestly I just felt like I was being pulled to this specific department, you know? Sometimes you want to do something and you don't know why. What made you want to go into EMS?"

"It's honestly a long story but I feel like I have overstayed my welcome in this field and I want to move on to nursing."

"Nursing? Any particular specialty you want to get into?"

"See that's the thing there's so many options and I feel like I'm getting pulled in all these directions.. there's a lot of aspects in healthcare that I love a lot, I just don't know what would be a good fit for me."

"Well you're already a paramedic so I assume you like emergency care so maybe you'd be in the ER? Or based on how you cared for this baby and had a detailed report maybe pediatrics would be a good fit."

The elevator doors opened and the two stepped off onto the pediatric floor the nurse looked over at the baby while Luke was looking in front of himself making sure not to walking into anything or anyone.

Suddenly there was a blood hurdling screaming from the nurse and she started running "baby's lips are blue baby's lips are blue" she called out sprinting her way to the NICU Luke followed confused to why no other stuff appeared or reacted but within in thirty seconds the nurse had the baby on an available bed and she started assessing "he was having blood pressure issues as soon as i delivered him but they seemed to stabilize after I gave all the appropriate meds I don't know what happened."

Luke was at a loss for words as he started helping the nurse, by getting the baby on the monitor as she started to get a manual blood pressure.

The baby was barely responsive to what they were doing "his pressure is sixty over thirty he might code on us" the nurse sighed very disappointed as she scrambled to get meds from the drawers as Luke stood their not really knowing what else to do because this wasn't his jurisdiction.
