"Captain Hemmings we got a car crash on the eastbound side of the i-81, injuries and number of patients unknown. Do you copy?"The tones dropped Luke listened intently for instructions, "copy that, on the way. Has fire and PD made patient contact yet?"
"No patient contact yet but fire is securing the scene right now."
"Perfect we'll be there momentarily"
Luke got annoyed because there was construction and people in front and next to him had no idea how to drive in a construction zone, "cmon on Cmon move it" he grunted wanting the jeep in front of him to move out of the way.
Luke pulled up to the scene roughly three minutes later, fire and PD were on scene blocking off the road and redirecting traffic. Luke parked beside fire truck and he got out along with Elliot and Sierra.
Elliot had a bag and so did Sierra, Luke walked ahead putting on gloves, noticing the two vehicles involved. One was a car and the other was a postal truck, it appeared the car crashed into the back of postal truck in the left hand lane.
The postal worker seemed to be fine standing outside the vehicle talking with police, the officer waved off the medics and instead Luke, Sierra and Elliot jogged to the other car the front of it was crushed against the postal truck and they heard screams.
A couple of firefighters were cutting away the metal making it easier for EMS to asses and remove the patients.
Luke approached the drivers side seeing a male who was screaming with abrasions on his face, he was breathing rapidly too. "Hey hey what hurts?" Luke asked leaning over touching the gash on the man's face checking to see how deep the bleed was. "Don't.. worry.. about.. me.." he gasped trying to point next to him.
"My sister... is.. pregnant.." he gasped between words again. "There's another patient!" Luke shouted pointing to the other side of the car. "Do you have chest pain? Is it hard to breathe?" Luke questioned the man putting on his stethoscope beginning to lean into to asses his lungs considering his was short of breath and gasping as he spoke.
"DONT.TOUCH.ME." He growled, nudging Lukes arm away. "HELP.MY.SISTER.FIRST." Luke backed up getting the attention of a firefighter, "hey get vitals on him I gotta attend to his sister"
"Captain, we have a problem, here" Sierra announced as she saw the other patient, Luke rushed over, immediately seeing what his crew were seeing, a woman probably in her thirties with face and head trauma and possibly crush injuries.
"Elliot see if you can get a pulse" Luke commanded as he ran back to the rig to get a stretcher coming back seconds later, he saw the look of panic on Elliot's face upon his return. "I can't find a pulse." Then Lieutenant Deaton shoved him to the side using her stethoscope on the patient's chest. "Agonal breaths." She mumbled her eyes going wide. "Can't find a detectable heart beat she added on."
Luke commanded his crew getting them carefully put quickly extract the patient from the wreckage. The patient's brother was screaming as they pulled the sister out and Luke felt bad already upon seeing her very pregnant belly.
Luke looked at Sierra in the eyes "lieutenant start bagging her, Elliot start compressions" meanwhile Luke placed the cardiac monitor leads shaking his head seeing that there was no cardiac activity.
With every compression Elliot did more blood came out of the patients wounds, Luke tried to seal them up and got to work on the IV.
As Luke secured the IV and pushed the first round of epi the patients brother got wheeled by he was screaming and crying for his sister trying to fight the restraints and firefighters. "GINA PLEASE! WHAT AM I GONNA TELL ANTHONY?"
