MarchLuke and Sabrina were sitting side by side one another in the packed auditorium of Shepards university.
Today was Sierra's nursing programs graduation ceremony and she invited Luke and Sierra to attend considering they've been long time friends.
After all this hard work and dedication, Sierra was officially taking the next step in her career, completing this degree and finally being able to take a job in Saint Peters Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse. She was excited for this new adventure.
After some waiting around the Dean of the university approached the podium thanking all the guest for coming before announcing the graduates.
All the graduates came out into the stage wearing white coats sitting down one by one.
Luke thought to himself how in just a few months that would be him up there ready to officially move on with his life.
A lot of people did a lot of talking then it was time for the pinning ceremony. The pinning ceremony was a tradition that's been going on for a hundred years. The graduate would choose a special person in their life to come to the stage and pin them, maybe even say some kind words on their behalf as well.
Soon enough Sierras name was called and she stood up in front of the Dean as Luke made his way to the stage walking up the three little steps taking the pin from the Dean now standing and looking in front sierra.
"You did it, Sierra! You finally did it! You've come a long long way in your life and in your career in medicine. You should be so proud of this achievement because it's a big one. I feel so honored that I get to pin you and see you get your degree in your hands. Those mothers and babies are going to be so lucky to have you in Saint Peters hospital." Luke rambled, holding the pin his hands.
"Thank you, Luke, thank you." She whispered feeling a sense of accomplishment go over her.
"Look you're officially Sierra Deaton, registered labor and delivery nurse, thank you for allowing me to be apart of your journey." He said, pinning her, seeing her eyes starting to twinkle.
"Thank you so much." She responded again getting into a brief hug with her best friend before Luke broke away, clapping for her.
The Dean rushed him a long and he left the stage adjusting his tie as he sat back down next to Sabrina. "That was sweet of you." She whispered, rubbing her husbands thigh in support of him. "I know. I still can't believe she chose me for this"
"She chose you because you've been on this journey the longest with her. You first saw her as a EMT basic all those years ago until she became certified as a critical care medic. You've been there in the good times and bad times.. you've mentored her, you made sure she made it home safe and sound to her family. She owes you a lot."
"Yeah I was apart of all of that... I guess I'm the reason why she wanted to move on to a different area of medicine."
"You we're.you encouraged her take the risks and do something she's always wanted to do. And that's exactly what she did. And because of her, that's why you're doing what you're doing now. I'm so proud to stand by you, I'm happy every day that I get to be your wife."
"I didn't know I could be that impactful."
"Well you are, I think it's because you're so dedicated to what you do people admire that. You're a very smart guy with a lot of experience under your belt, a lot of people have learnt a lot of things from you. You should be flattered."
"Thanks do you think I chose the right path in life?"
"Yes. You were meant to do this. Just keep on going never give up on what you want to do in life, Luke."
"Thanks."
The Dean came up to the podium again this time announcing the official announcement that it's been official and that he's proud to send off these new nurses into the world.
Sierra jumped up, seeming very happy and relieved for the first time in a long time.
Sabrina and Luke stood up cheering for her hoping that Sierra knew how important this day was.
