Luke entered the studio of the familiar house sitting down and placing the headphones over his ears. He adjusted the microphone with the placement of how he was sitting, across from him all ready to go was the one and only Gaby.
Gaby had a printout of questions in front of her re reading them in her head making sure she was organized and had everything she wanted to ask written down.
"Are you ready to start?" She asked putting the paper down, seeing Luke adjusting his denim coat. "Yes all good to go" he said and Gaby clicked on the record button.
"Hello! Welcome back! I don't know what number episode this is off hand but I have a special guest with me today and it's the one and only Captain Luke Hemmings of Martinsburg EMS. Welcome back, Luke!"
"Hi. Thank you for bringing me back on the show. It's always a blast to be on here. You make it a lot of fun!"
"Aww thank you. A lot has happened since we last spoke. Since we last spoke you got accepted into nursing school, Shepard University to be exact how has that been?"
"I honestly never thought I'd be back in school at fifty years old but here I am. I may be one of the oldest ones in the program right now but it doesn't necessarily feel that way because everyone is learning for the same reason. I have may been in healthcare for a long time already but theyre something I don't know how to do or necessarily know about. I like being able to constantly learn ya know?" Luke crossed his legs and fixed his posture, smiling at his long time friend.
"The people in your class know you're a medic right?"
"Yes they do!"
"Since they know that you're a medic, are they intimidated by you? Do they ask you a lot of questions?"
"I don't think any of those people have ever been intimidated by me, honestly. If anything a lot of them feel more comfortable in asking me for help than the instructor because they feel like I'm more patient with them and explain it better."
"How does the instructor feel about you? Do they feel like you're taking over the class? Or do they feel like you're helping them out?"
"The instructor has been really really nice to me. I think they like that there's an extra person there who is able to help out and answer certain questions. She even allowed me to correct people's IV placements. I honestly think we're an awesome group of people." Luke explained, excitement written all over his face.
"Are you the only guy?"
"Actually no, there's one other guy in the class, who's in his late twenties I think."
"Is it awkward that there's just you and one other guy and that everyone else is girls?"
"No, i never felt awkward or outnumbered by them. I support women in healthcare one hundred percent and it's wonderful to be able to work along side so many intelligent individuals."
"I like how you said that with so much pride and enthusiasm. In healthcare everyone needs to learn to work together because in the end you all have the same goal: to help people who are in need."
"Yes you're right! In this type of career you need a connection. Obviously there may be times where you don't like someone you work with or whatever but you have to learn to push that aside so you can help your patients. In the end it's not about you it's about the people you're caring for on a daily basis."
"How far into the program are you? When do you graduate?"
"Believe it or not but I graduate in June. It would've been a couple of months sooner than that but I had some health issues going on and because of that I had to postpone my clinical hours."
