She walked down the airport. Her parents were there to pick her up. She smiled lightly and went towards them. They went home where she met her grandfather. She was his little baby and he would listen to whatever she said.
After that, they sat down to eat lunch. All of the dishes were her favorite but she didn't eat a lot. She just came back and suddenly eating the different types of dishes would harm her. She has gotten used to American food and it would take time to get used to her country's food.
She finished her food and told her family that she would go out and check up on her apartment. To that, her grandfather said.
" Dear, why don't you live with us?"
" Grandpa, I am used to living alone. But I'll be here most of the time so don't worry."
" I know. Alright but why don't you live in a better apartment? Granda will buy whichever one you want."
" I like that place. I don't want a lavish apartment with a view of the city."
" I see. Then make sure it's safe and nothing is broken before you start living there."
" Yes. I am going to check the apartment."
" Before you go, come to my study. Grandpa has something to say to you."
They went up together. Her grandfather sat down on the chair. She closed the door and came in. He asked her seriously.
" Alice, are you sure about that?" Hearing him, Alice's eyes darkened.
" Yes. I want to stop getting reports about her."
" Alright then. But Alice, if you are going to let her go, then do it with your heart. Its good that you have decided to let go. It's better than holding onto something you are never going to get."
" Yes, Grandpa."
" You can go now. I'll take care of everything."
" Thank you, Grandpa."
Alice left with heavy feelings. She grabbed her coat and went out. Her Mercedes was already delivered. She took her car and went to the small apartment complex. She bought the apartment on the top floor. It was a seven-story building. It was simple and decent.
It was also near her office and right in the middle of the city. It was perfect for her. She planned to build a proper place for herself later on so she didn't want to buy any extravagant house until then.
She liked simple and normal things. She liked to be lowkey. Most importantly, she liked peace. This apartment was the best considering all those factors. It was old and worn out. So most of the people didn't prefer it. It was in the city but not in the forefront of noise and commotion.
She reached the apartment. The parking was filled with very few cars. The elevator seemed to have some issues so she took the stairs. There were seven floors so she walked slowly while looking around. Each floor has two apartments and a few of them were locked.
She finally stepped on the last stairs and in front of her stood a door to apartment no. 13. Hers was 14. She looked across on the other end. There it was. As she was about to walk there, the door to apartment no. 13 opened and she stopped.
A woman wearing a long t-shirt with shorts walked out with a cardboard in her hand. She was looking down at the cardboard and didn't notice someone ahead. She looked up and stopped in time but as soon as she saw the face of the person, the cardboard fell out of her hand and the scrape inside fell out.
One piece flew out and cut Stella's exposed leg but she couldn't feel it at all. Standing in front of her was the person she had looked for everywhere. There wasn't a single place she didn't try to search.
