Alice listened to her and felt bad. Her eyes warmed up a bit but she controlled herself. She was silent for a while before she replied.
" I am sorry. I shouldn't have disappeared like that. I didn't think you would be so scared but it's normal for you to be scared. I was inconsiderate. And thank you for believing in me. For trusting our promise... Honestly, I can never know how it is to be scared with such thoughts as I never went through it. I was never left out by you. Still, I can understand the fear of losing a loved one. I fear losing you too cause you are the one who means everything to me in my world."
Alice's parents weren't in the room. Otherwise, she would've felt embarrassed to say it in front of them. But when it comes to Stella, she felt her vocabulary is not enough to expresses the dept of her feelings.
" Alice, I don't blame you. Nor do I need an apology from you. I don't like it when you say I am sorry. I know I've become a little over sensitive about us. Whenever something concerns you, I become extra cautious. I just wanted to share my feelings with you. I didn't want to make you feel bad. And I trust you enough that even if you left me again, even if I hate you someday, my love for you will always be able conquer my hate. I can't hate someone to the level that I love you. Even if you actually leave me without reason, if someday you stop loving me, if someday you even hurt me, I know I might break apart in pieces rather than hate you. Because hating the person you love the most in this world is more hurtful than any other pain. It'll be unbearable for me."
Alice tears streamed down. Listening to Stella, how can she not know what she means. She has lived the most beautiful year's of her life trying to hate the person she loves above and beyond the world.
And in the end, her hate lost. It couldn't hold on to her love. It was nothing comparative to her love. And she lived in unbearable pain all those years wishing to let her go. But her heart choose to hurt every second of the day instead of hating her or forgetting her. It just wasn't willing to not love Stella.
She tried to not make a noise as tears fell from her eyes. Stella also didn't say anything as she recalled the past few years she spent without Alice.
Just then, Alice's father came in. He was surprised to see his daughter crying. He never saw her cry with tears since she was a toddler. There was a time when he felt that she was sad or depressed but he never witnessed her crying. He was shocked at exclaimed with utmost worry.
" Alice! What's wrong dear? Why are you crying?!"
Alice was stunned. She quickly wiped the tears and told her father.
" It's nothing. I was just talking on phone."
Her father looked at the phone she held near the ear with a complicated gaze. He wanted her to not talk to anyone who makes her cry but decides to keep silent.
" I am going out. Don't cry and over exert yourself. Rest properly, okay?"
" Yes, Dad. Don't worry about me."
After her father went out, she heard Stella's voice from the phone.
" Were you crying a lot? Sorry. It seems like I always ends up making you cry somehow. These days it's like I am overly emotional or something."
" Don't worry about that."
" You are okay, right? Your father was asking you too rest. Are you too tired? Didn't you say that you don't have much to do? "
" I am fine. Dad is just over protective of me. I don't cry so he mustve gotten worried seeing me cry."
" I get it. It's quite late. You should go to sleep. We have work tomorrow."
" Okay."
" Good night. Have a good rest."
" Yes. You too."
" Hmm. I love you."
" ...I love you too." Alice said in a low voice. She felt embarrassed.
" Bye~ " Stella smiled dotingly.
" Bye. "
