The day ended and it was starting to get dark. The sky was blue and the sun was setting. Her father asked her if she planned to come back or go to her apartment. The first thing she thought is that she is going back but then she remembered what Stella said.
She looked defeated and in low spirits as she said.
" I'll go to the apartment. Maybe I'll come tomorrow."
" Alright. Take care dear and tell us if you need anything at all."
Alice arrived at the apartment complex. She entered the elevator and as it neared her floor, her heart beats get disturbed. Finally the elevator opened. She slowly stepped out. Stella wasn't there.
Suddenly her posture was relaxed but weighing that relief also hid the disappointment. She knew just how much she yearned to see her beloved.
She went inside and left her door a little open. It was enough to let her hear the noises outside. She then sat on the seat nearest to the door.
After a while, she heard the voice of doors opening and closing. Her senses instantly went high. She listen to the voice carefully.
The elevator doors opened with a ding and she heard footsteps which soon stopped. Stella turned back to look at the closed door with a lonely gaze. Then she noticed that the four was left slightly open. She was surprised but then her eyes warmed up.
Stella returned back she sailed towards her door but she stopped and didn't open the door. She stood silently at the door. Then suddenly she turned around and walked to Alice's apartment. She rung the bell.
Soon, Alice opened the door. From the looks of it, she seemed indifferent but Stella could see the hidden feelings of anticipation in her eyes that she might herself not know.
Alice was dressed in a beige suit with a full collar back t-shirt underneath. She wore black shoe boots over it and donned her favorite custom made watch.
She had her hair tied up in a simple ponytail and her fringes covered her forehead.
Stella was stunned by her beauty. She never saw her dressed like this before. This was her formal office clothes and she never wore them when they were together. Still, an uncontrollable smile swept up her face.
" Hey, sorry to disturb you. I just saw that you left your door open and thought I would tell you."
Alice listened to Stella seriously. But actually all she was doing was staring at her. She was just trying to stop time.
Stella wore dark green trousers and a white shirt. She had comfortable sports shoes and a black wind breaker hanging in her hand.
Her wavy hair were tied in a messy bun but she was still looking beautiful with all there fringes of her hanging down.
They both secretly admired each other and sneak glances. When their eyes met, they were embarrassed and averted them.
" I see. I might've left the door open in hurry. "
" Well, since your living alone, you can tell me if you need anything. Don't worry and just treat me as a neighbor."
' I can't.' Alice says in her heart.
" Okay."
" Alright I'll leave then." Stella slowly turned around but then stopped. Alice was still staring at her. She turned back and said.
" Hey, actually you know, the thing is... "
" What is it?" Seeing that she couldn't complete her sentence, Alice asked.
Stella was actually looking for an excuse to stay with her longer. She said that all in the moment of anger and she was still very sad and upset because of Alice but her love and yearning of countless day and nights yet again defeated her resolve to not look at her when she is just a few steps away.
" Yes! The light! The light in the common bathroom has stopped working. Can you, I mean do you know how to repair it?"
" Am I an electrician? Why don't you call an electrician instead?" Alice said coldly.
" I don't know one. I just thought maybe you would know."
" You said once that you handle all these little problems yourself as your Mother has taught you. Do you really not know how to change the bulb?"
" I... I know how to change the bulb. But, what if it's something else?"
" Listen... Stella, please don't make excuses. I know you. You would have solved the issue yourself and if you can't, that means I won't be able to. So please, I really don't... "
" What? You really don't what? Don't want to see me? Can't bear to see me?! Alice! Why? Why are you so selfish? Can't you see me? Can't you see that I am... I am dying to see you? That I miss you... "
