Deceived Me

Chapter 43:

Stella was busy at work. When it was lunch break, she eat a sandwich with yogurt milk while researching on a disease her senior asked her to. She wanted to message Alice and ask her if she eat but she didn't want to bother her. She must be working or having lunch with her father.

After lunch, she was busy learning from her seniors and the day just went by. It didn't take long for her to get off. As she drive home, she stopped by a restaurant to get a takeaway. She went home and washed up. She looked at her phone several times as she waited for Alice.

She warmed the food in air fryer and switched on the tv as she sat eating while watching a movie at random. She was not feeling hungry so she started late. She was eating when she got a call. Th4 moment she saw Alice's name, her heart fluttered and she picked up instantly.

" Hello?"

" Hi. I called you right after dinner. What were you doing?" Alice asked. She was actually waiting for a long time to call Stella but she didn't want to disturb her at work or when she was eating.

" I was just... Eating dinner." Stella looked down at her food and said.

" Now? Why so late?"

" I wasn't feeling hungry."

" Oh... Then what are you having?"

" I bought takeaway on the way home from the hospital. I am having fried rice and sweet corn soup."

" Is it hygienic? Is it healthy?"

" Yeah. What about you? What did you have for dinner?"

" I had porridge with some light side dishes."

" Did you not eat at a restaurant?"

" No. We eat in the hotel we are staying at. Since we are traveling, we don't want to have something heavy so soon."

" That's a good choice. It's easy to get an upset stomach when we travel to new places. How are you? Is everything fine over there?"

" Yeah. Everything is okay. It's a little boring at times as I don't have much to do."

" Why? Aren't you busy? I mean you left so urgently that I thought you wouldn't get to rest."

" No. I am not that busy. Mostly because my Dad came with me. What about you? Are you feeling bored too?"

" ...I am fine."

" Actually, before we met again, I was so used to spending hours and even days alone doing nothing. I would either read or work. I'd make food for myself and five years passed just like that. Now when I haven't even spend a month with you, I feel so... I feel so alone without you."

Listening to Alice, Stella's heart warmed up. She heard Alice say in a low voice.

" Stella, I miss you..."

Stella was stunned. Alice wasn't the type to openly convey her feelings. She would rather use actions. Very rarely when she feels vulnerable, she would act like this.

Meanwhile, Alice actually missed her a lot. She felt helpless as she couldn't tell her what was happening. However, she was in quite a pain because of her accident. It was also hard without her. At times like this, you want your beloved people to care about you and pamper you but she couldn't tell Stella.

She really missed her when it hurts cause Stella was here, everything would just be so much easier.

Stella had a tender gaze as she looked down with love in her eyes.

" I miss you a lot too. When you suddenly left like that, I was scared. At first I thought that you disappeared like before but then I remembered your promise. So I thought something happened to you. When I got your call, I was finally relieved. But until now, I was actually a little upset at you. I was upset you left so suddenly and didn't even say goodbye. I was upset because I know I'll miss you so much. I missed you for five years so now that I got you back, I am more reluctant than ever to part ways with you. I thought I could pass the days easily as I was used to but I almost want to take a leave and fly to you."

Stella confessed her feelings. She felt bad keeping things to herself. Alice deserved to know.
