Chapter 26: Starlight

The two reached the control room Tal Merrik was holding The Duchess captive in, "Come in, Kenobi, Solari, you two are expected."

Alex furrowed her eyebrows and said, "Tal Merrik, you are under arrest. Release the Duchess."

Tal Merrik smirked mischievously, "Hmm. I took the precaution of wiring, the ship's engines to explode." He held up a remote, "I press this remote, and we all die!"

Alex and Obi Wan gave each other a worried look, Alex gulped.

"Obi Wan, Alex, if you have any respect for me,
you will not take such risks with so many people's lives at stake," Satine spoke.

Merrik backed out of the room with the duchess in his arms, dragging her out to the hallways. Alex and Obi Wan cautiously followed.

"Stand by to disengage," Merrik spoke into his com, "Say farewell duchess."

The duchess hit merrik with the heel of her shoes, and grabbed his gun, "You're a slug, Merrik!" leaving him unarmed, in a tough position, him surrounded by a Jedi, a powerful force user, and an armed Duchess.

"Interesting turnabouts," He said. "but even if I do not deliver the Duchess alive to the Separatists,I still win." He said confidently. "The second I'm away, I'll hit the remote and blow the Coronet to bits."

"I will not allow that!" Duchess said.

"What will you do? If you shoot me, you prove yourself a hypocrite to every pacifist ideal you hold dear." Merrik said wickedly, he knew he was getting in her head, "Kenobi, you are no stranger to violence. And You." He said squinting his eyes at me, "You're Rebel scum, Not even worthy enough to become a jedi!"

Alex's blood boiled, she held out her hand, and threw Merrik back into the wall, He fell on his back and laughed, "That's all you've got? I know you don't have the guts to kill me!" He said while getting up "You're nothing!"

But then all of a sudden a lightsaber was ignited through him, he fell to his death, and behind him stood a proud Anakin.

"Ani!" Alex said in the most maternally disappointed way, but inside she felt somewhat proud.

Anakin shrugged, "What? He was gonna blow up the ship." He justified, and then hid his face out of embarrassment.

The mission had ended, Anakin, Obi Wan and Alex stepped out of the ship to the republic, immediately met with Chancellor Palpatine. "A job well done, Master Jedi."

"Thank you Chancellor." Obi Wan said.

Something about The Chancellor had always made Alex feel eery, but she couldn't quite understand why, after all he hadn't done anything wrong, not yet at least.

"Alex, Meet me in your room in a few minutes." Obi Wan said, turning to Alex and holding both her hands. He then left. Anakin smirked at Alex.

Later, When Alex opened the door to her room, She saw it lit up by an abundance of candles, rose petals on the bed, and a tray of Alex's favourite fruits in the middle. Obi Wan saw her come in, and his face lit up.

She went up-to him and held his hands, "What's all this?" She asked.

"It's my way of apologising, for Satine," He said while looking down. Alex smiled at him, no one had ever done anything remotely kind for her, and this was too much at once to take in. in her head, she felt as if she were jumping around in a field of flowers.

Obi Wan looked up at her and his eyes glistened in the candlelight, "Alex I want you to know, i've never felt the way i feel about you, with anyone, You are my starlight, You are everything to me, as dangerous as that may be."

Alex blushed, she never had a way with words like Obi Wan did, so to show her gratitude, she held his face and kissed him. "I feel the same way." She said.

"Uh, One question?" Obi Wan said hesitantly. Alex nodded. "You called my beard scruffy, do you not like it?"

Alex laughed, he's adorable, She thought, "Oh Obi, i just think it hides too much of your handsome face." She said caressing his cheek and giving him a quick kiss.
