"I need a weapon," Alex said, while she laid in Obi Wan's arms, late at night after finishing a hectic mission.

"You do have a weapon." Obi Wan said. His eyes closed, his chin rested on the top of Alex's head.

"I have a blaster,"

"A blaster is a weapon."

"No it's not," She said, as she sat up. "Its a clumsy weapon in a civilised age."

"Oh i dont wanna talk about anything related to the battlefield after the day we've had, let's just sleep." Obi Wan said, pulling in Alex.

"I can't sleep, I don't wanna sleep." Alex said. But she didn't receive a response, she looked up, unravelling herself from Obi Wan's embrace only to find him sound asleep. He sure is strange, she thought. How could a person possibly fall sound asleep when they were conversing just a few seconds ago?

She slowly and carefully got out of bed, trying not to wake up Obi Wan. She left her room, and tip toed through the halls. It was dark throughout the jedi temple, everyone seemed to be fast asleep. Not one room had it's lights on.

Alex wanted something to do, so she decided to head to the jedi archives. It was dead silent, It was dark and there seemed to be no one there. She looked through all the books using a light she took on her way out of her room, there was decades of history jam packed into those shelves. Alex wondered how strange it was, that she shared one thing with every jedi that ever lived, that they were similar in the most significant way, and yet she felt nothing like them.

Of course, there was the obvious, she wasn't a jedi, she never got trained to be one, but she was a force user. She did sometimes deep down wish that she was a jedi, and that desire started growing more when she started to be surrounded by jedi more.

As much as she hated to admit it, she admired them, and would only hope to be as noble as them. Though she did despise all their rules, they pretended that breaking those rules would bring hell upon the galaxy, she didn't like to think of it that way. Especially forbidding attachments for all jedi, of course this opinion was a bit overclouded with partialness, given the death of her parents after their expulsion, and her love for Obi Wan.

She let go of her thoughts when she came across a book on jedi lightsaber techniques. She dusted it off and went to one of the desks to read it. She looked through all the teachings the book held, hoping she had something to practice on, She did desperately want a lightsaber.

As she studied the technique, Shii Cho, the lightsaber style used by all jedi, She heard a faint noise, She instantly turned her head around, to where the noise came from.

"Hello?" She whispered.

No response.

She could've just let it go, maybe it was just her mind playing tricks on her, maybe it was a branch cracking outside the window, it could have possibly been anything, but she felt something, something that made the hair on her arm stand up, something bad, something dark.

She got up, and went towards the back of the library, where the noise came from. It was all dark, she could only see the little the light allowed her to. As she walked closer to the back of the library, she saw a glimpse of light, She walked towards it.

It was a lightsaber, placed gently on a table. She picked it hesitantly, even though she left she shouldn't. She carefully ignited it. Her eyes grew big and her heartbeat doubled, when the red flashed before her eyes. She turned it off and dropped it on the ground, leaving it there, she started running towards the library exit.

Shivers ran through her spine, she wondered how a sleepless night turn into a potential encounter with the dark side of the force. As she ran out the gate, she stopped to catch her breath, suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder.
