Chapter 24: Jealous

After a fierce and, for Alex, a frustrating argument was broken off between between Obi Wan and Satine, the three left the room and headed out.

While walking down the hallway, there was an uneasy silence, a silence Obi Wan was trying to ignore, A silence Alex was partly responsible for, And a silence that Anakin desperately wanted to escape.

When they reached a quiet room, Anakin spoke up, "Uh, I'll give u guys a moment, to, Uh, discuss, The— mission?" He said nervously, giving Obi Wan a sympathetic look before leaving.

"So, I guess I wasn't the only girl on your mind ever since you were a padawan." Alex said as soon as Anakin left. Obi Wan sat on a chair and put his head in his hands.

"Oh Alex, it's nothing like that." He tried to explain, "It was an extended mission when I was younger.Master Oui-Gon and I spent a year on Mandalore, protecting the Duchess from insurgents who had threatened her world." He stood up, "Aren't we a bit too old and wise for this?"

Alex was fumed, "Growing a scruffy beard doesn't make you old and wise Obi Wan Kenobi!"

Before he could reply his com beeped, "General, something's wrong with Skywalker's astromech." The soldier spoke on the opposite side.

Alex rolled her eyes and mumbled under her breath, "Saved by the bell."

"I'm on my way down to assist you!" Obi Wan said, as he got up. But Alex stopped him.

"It's fine, you stay here, i'll go, i need to get out of here anyway." She said and turned to leave, but Obi Wan grabbed her hand.

"No, I'll go Alex, what if it's dangerous My love?" He said. Alex melted inside, almost forgetting about everything with Satine. Almost.

She yanked off her hand, "I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself!" She said and left. Obi Wan watched her go, he wanted to stop her again but he felt that it was no use.

On the way, she ran into Anakin who was also going to help the troopers.

As they were walking Anakin said, "You don't have to be worried about anything, you know?"

"Sorry?"

"Obi Wan has eyes only for you, trust me, I know." He assured.

Alex looked at him, furrowing her eyebrows. "How do you—"

"How do i know? Well let's just say you guys are not all that good at hiding it." She knew he probably knew, but she didn't think he'd be so forward about it, Everyone knew about him and padme but no one ever talked about it.

"At least we're better at hiding it than you and Padme, or shall I say, Senator Amidala." Alex teased, Anakin's eyes opened wide.

"Uh, i'm afraid i have no idea what you're talking about." He tried to stay firm, but failed incredibly.

Alex smirked, "Takes one to know one, kid." But then she saw the actual worry on Anakin's face, "But you don't have anything to worry about, im the last person to rat anyone out to the council, i find the no attachment rule quite silly."

A look of relief came over Anakin. Alex hesitated before saying, "How— How do you know, that he only has eyes for me?"

Anakin looked at her and smiled, "Have you seen the way he is around you? ive never seen him like that around anyone, definitely not satine," He let out a chuckle, "I mean he laughs infront of you for gods sake!"

"Huh." Alex wondered.

"You two, dare i say it, there's no force that can keep you two apart." This made Alex smile, even though she tried to hide it.

"Well i could say the same thing about you and Padme." She said, returning the compliment, making Anakin smile.

"I just get so worried about her you know, she's an important person, what if something happened to her." He said.

"Hey i know the feeling, but don't worry, i'm sure she'll be fine as long as she has one of the strongest jedi watching her back." Alex said patting Anakin's back. He chuckled in humbleness.
