Later at night, the architect student was in his dorm room working on his assignments while Felix was there too studying at his study desk. However, Gage could not help thinking about his other best friend since they were still distant from one another.
"Hey, Felix," the guy called out to his roommate.
"Yeah?" His buddy took his eyes off from his book to face Gage.
"Have you talked to Courtney lately?"
"Uhm... not really, I've been busy with the film club and all. Why'd you ask? You guys haven't talked yet?"
"Nope, she's still mad at me," Gage sighed in frustration.
"You know how she is," Felix snickered. "Courtney can be so unreasonably over-reacting about things."
"Yeah... but this is different."
"What difference does it make? She talks crap about your girlfriend."
"I know, but part of me still wants to get back to being friends with her, don't you?"
The male best friend cringed since he had no interest in making amends with the drama queen. "I do," he fibbed. "It's just that Courtney doesn't get along with Rita, too."
"Well, my girlfriend is trying to be friends with her."
"Eww... Why?" Felix reacted accidentally. "I mean, she does? Wow, Oddey is kind and sweet."
"That's why I love her," Gage responded.
"Rita is kind too. Kind enough to stay away from Courtney so that they won't fight."
The architect student rolled his eyes and shook his head at him. "Very funny. But I'm serious, I can't shake off the feeling that we're not friends anymore, and it was so awkward whenever we rehearse in the auditorium."
"It's gonna be awkward either way."
"Not helping," the poor guy grunted.
Felix took a deep breath and placed his textbook at the side. "Listen, Gage. Sometimes, these things happen. There's always going to be an issue with the girlfriend and the friend who happens to be a girl. But in your case, Oddey is willing to be friends with someone like Courtney, but Courtney is the one who's not willing to be friends with her."
"Yeah, but..."
"But what?"
"I just wish it doesn't have to be this way," Gage exasperated. "I kinda miss Courtney, you know."
Felix began feeling annoyed that his best friend was still sulking about their demanding friend since he hoped that he would get over it already. "She'll come around soon enough."
"I hope so."
"I hope not," the roommate muttered to himself. "Look, she has to accept that we both have girlfriends now. it's bound to happen. I mean, what if she has a boyfriend, wouldn't she expect the same thing from us? We can't just not be in a relationship just because she doesn't like them."
"You're right, I love Oddey," the Romeo answered firmly. "If Courtney can't accept my relationship with my girlfriend, then we can't be friends."
"I get it. You and Courtney have been best friends longer than you and I are, so I guess it's why you're feeling like this."
"Yeah, maybe."
"It'll be okay. You'll see," Felix assured him.
"Yup." Gage just nodded in response. "Thanks for listening, man."
"Anytime."
The following day, Gage went to the restaurant where he was supposed to meet his father as he waited for him. He ordered himself an iced coffee and felt calm, yet excited that he was going to see his Dad again.
