Wooyoung's POV:

Why, Yeosang? Why did you have to tell my mom and get my family involved? She doesn't even know what happened to Hyunjin, how am I supposed to explain this? I have no idea what he told her, but I guess I'm about to find out.

"Mom." I called out. I figured she'd be in the kitchen. My guess was correct. "Mom."

"Sit." She stared at her full glass of red wine and pinched the bridge of her nose with her eyes shut. "Can you explain to me why your husband is in police custody right now? And why it was Yeosang who felt the need to call me?"

"It's a long story."

"Well then make it short because I'm not in the mood for this." She snapped. "You think I'm going to be taking this lightly? I don't care if you have your own lives, you're still my son and I worry about you every single day."

"You're not mad at San, are you?" I was nervous that may be the case. The last thing I want her to believe is that he's a danger to me in some capacity.

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't be?"

"He did it to protect me." I mumbled, not necessarily proud of my husband's actions either.

"All Yeosang told me was that he got arrested and thrown in a police car outside of where you work, that's all I know. So you're going to have to tell me everything from the beginning."

"Please don't make me." I begged.

"I'm your mother, not your friend right now. You're going to tell me everything." She demanded. I crossed my arms on the kitchen table and rested my head down to hide my face.

A year. I've kept this top secret from every living being. It's taken this three days to completely blow my entire life up. This is what I get for living amongst psychopaths.

"I left ESteem permanently."

"Well, I can't imagine you'd be allowed back after all this, but continue."

"I originally left a few weeks ago because they wanted me to get plastic surgery."

"For what?" The disgust was written all over her face. "I don't understand, you're gorgeous. And I'm not just saying that because you're my son. All my babies are beautiful, I got lucky."

"Well the company doesn't seem to think so. I was a joke to them from the very beginning."

"That doesn't make any sense."

"It makes perfect sense actually. I don't have a single feature that a standard model is supposed to have. I'm not tall, I'm not ripped, I have crooked teeth, my eyes are uneven, and they wanted me to get a nose job. The director quite literally told me that people are going to surgeons so they look less like me. I was the inclusive model. To the public eye, ESteem is a praised, respected company for doing something so brave. But to the people on the inside, I'm a joke. This isn't some theory anymore. It was at first actually. But somehow Felix knew everything the whole time." Hyunjin got every piece of information out of Felix that night. I'm shocked he told me, but I'm sure he wants to put everything on the table. No more secrets.

"Is Felix still with ESteem?"

"No, because one of the directors tried to get to him the way he got to me."

"Get to you how?" She didn't seem too concerned, just curious. I knew this was one of those times where I needed to be strong for her sake. She'll need that support more than me.

I held her hand in both of mine and took a deep breath. "I just want you to know that I'm sorry. You and dad raised me to be a strong person who can defend themselves if I'm ever in any trouble. That didn't work out so well this time." My breathing was shaky, I was terrified to tell her.
