Grow Old Without You (Chapter 5)
LAUREN NOW
It was hard going on with the day knowing my daughter's life is going to change just because of a picture, or a stupid paparazzi video. I tried to protect her for 10 years. Camila and I did try our best, and it was an unspoken rule since the start to try our very best not to have them photographed, and televised. It was for them to have some normalcy, even just a little bit. But I ruined it. I ruined everything for them.
"Mommy, are you okay?" Kara asked me as she sat on my lap, caressing my face. "You look, uhm, perplexed." Wow, a new word. My little bookworm has been using her words well.
"Ofcourse I am. You're here with me, and that's all that matters okay? Nothing else matters as long as your happy and safe and breathing." I said as I kissed her head, earning a smile from my 10 year old. She definitely is a Jauregui, from her widow's peak, her eyes, her nose and her pale ass skin tone. The only thing she got from her mother is her hair color, and her lips.
"Mommy, thank you for bringing me here. I love you." She smiled as she hugged me tight.
"Well, I didn't have a choice but to bring you here. You'd starve to death if I left you for a week, right?" I laughed as tickled her sides.
"No, you would've left me with Inigo, and I hate him" She mumbled to herself, thinking I wouldn't hear it. But I certainly did, and that certainly broke my heart.
"Lo, we're meeting them at Camila's in an hour. They're already in North Carolina." My dad said as I nodded my head at him.
"Where are we going? I thought you said were going to Disney World today?" Kara looked up at me with disappointment in her eyes.
"Baby, we just have to fix some things before we could go to Disney World. Remember me telling you about Aunt Camila?" She nodded her head excitedly. "Well, we're going to her house in about an hour, to talk. So get ready." I told her as she jumped
Off my lap.
"I'm excited to see Aunt Camila!" She screamed as she ran upstairs to my room. I told her stories about the girls, how are they like. Kara always said she was like Camila, quiet, loves to read, and shy. Of course they're alike.
I scooped up all the plates on the table, getting everything on the sink. I slowly washed the plates as I slipped into a train of thought. What the hell will I say to Kara when she meets Camz? What do I do when I see Lana, my sweet sweet Lana girl. What will I say to Camz? That I hate her, and I wish nothing changed, because I still think about her, after all these years.

LAUREN THEN
"You know what Lauren, for a smart girl who claimed she has a freaking academic scholarship in Miami's most whatever school, you're as dumb as a freaking shoe. Get over your fucking ex wife and move on.She obviously doesn't love you enough for her to cheat on you. That guy has been eye fucking you for the past hour we've been here. If you don't want him, I'll have him." Keana said as we were at the cocktail party of my first ever exhibit.
"Keana, I told you I'm not looking for anyone." I glared at her as I sipped on my wine. I can't really drink that much, knowing I have a 4 year old daughter who probably's still awake at home with my sister, Taylor. She's visiting, so letting her stay with me means she has to take care of Kara, even for one night.
"It's been how many years, Lauren. Get over it. You just need someone--"
"No, I don't need anyone." I spat at her as I walked off, getting away from her. I just wanted her to get off of my back, and just shut it about me looking for someone else, someone better for me.
