Grow Old Without You (Chapter 60)

Lauren

What sucks after being out of work for so long? Getting back to work. I had to finish recording sessions with my clients, re schedule photo shoots, and ofcourse, get my headspace into this working environment again. This week was all recording studio craziness. Candace was nice enough to get everything done on my behalf, but ofcourse, I also had to do my part on giving input. When I pick the girls up from practice, we go home, do homework, while I get my schedule straight. Thank God for my assistant. I would die if I fix another flight, or some hotel accommodations, transportation again. I know the client would pay for it, but ofcourse, I need to have my say on where I'd bring the kids.

It's a 4 day shoot, and I'm not comfortable leaving my girls in Miami without me. And I have this fear of leaving them behind and not knowing where they are. Ofcourse I know where that fear came from, right? So they are coming, along with Dinah who begged just to be in this trip. She wanted to sight see? I'll be there for work, so ofcourse, the only things I would see is my client and all the location we'll be in. I'm excited. I've never been to Israel.

"Can we bring the mitts Mommy?" Kara asked as I sighed. Since the try outs, they've been practicing non stop at home, in the grocery store, the studio, the art gallery, my office, their bedroom. Everywhere. It's either that freaking mitt and softball, or that mini soccer ball Dinah gave to them, courtesy of Nike ofcourse. I can't handle it anymore, but my mom said I was like that too when I was in the softball team. The only difference is, I have twins.

"Well, I would say no, but then you'd beg me to say yes, and we'll have a longer conversation if I said no, so I'm saying yes." I sighed as both of the girls cheered and grabbed their favorite toys.

"Come on Ralph. We'll be late. It'll be a long flight." Dinah said coming in my room.

"Yeah. I'm coming. I just have to re check my equipment." I said checking my utility bag for the fourth time the past few hours. I don't want to leave anything behind. "I'll be down in a minute." I closed my camera bag and made my way downstairs.

First class. It just means I could sleep peacefully without the girls disturbing me. They are disturbing Dinah and that's what I'm happy about. Maxene, my new assistant, is also the girls' new playmate. I get to have undisturbed sleep, and I am so happy about it.

We landed Israel, and it was already 9 in the evening. One thing I didn't know about Israel is that it's near Syria. But they reassured us that we do not need to worry about any attacks. We are in a safe zone, that's what they keep telling us. But that doesn't make me feel less nervous. If this isn't for Vogue, I wouldn't be doing this. And I mean come on, courtesy on this client not giving up and actually waiting for me to become better.

"You and twins have the connecting room. Dinah and I on the other side of the hall. The numbers are on your bedside, as well as the wifi password and everything you basically need." Maxene started, giving me the cards, talking like a zombie. She's tired, like the rest of us."Call time tomorrow is 5. I'll be there to fix your things by 4, so I'll see you at the venue. Have a good rest." She smiled softly as I nodded my head.

"Goodnight, Maxy." The twins simultaneously said tiredly, as they waved goodnight to Maxene.

"I'll crash. See you girls tomorrow? We'll go around the city." Dinah said winking at the girls.

"Love you, Aunt D" Lana said hugging Dinah.

"Goodnight, Ralph."

"Love you, DJ. See you tomorrow." I said as we all retreated to our rooms.
