Grow Old Without You (Chapter 29)

KARA

Mommy hasn't called in a long time, and Aunt Kea and I haven't slept yet. We went to the balcony, bringing the sofa outside as we gazed up on the stars the whole night. We pulled out Aunt Mani's record player, and it was softly playing Ed Sheeran's new album.

"Do you want something to drink, Love?" Aunt Kea asked me as I just shook my head as I heard her phone ring inside the room. We both ran, slipping on my socks in the process as she answered the phone. "Hey Dinah.. WHAT. Okay. We'll meet you there." Aunt Kea said hurriedly as she started putting on a dress. "We're going. Put on some shoes." She said fast as I grabbed my jacket and run after her.

"What's happening. Where are we going. Is every one okay?" I asked her as she was starting the car, typing on the GPS. H - O - S . "Hospital? Who's in the hospital?! " I asked her as I could feel my heart pounding so fast. Is Lana hurt?

"Kara. I want you to just sit down so I could drive fast to the hospital." Aunt Kea said as she started backing out of the driveway. "Ill tell you when we're there." She was serious, and I didn't want to get into an accident. I felt tears starting to fall out of my eyes as I rested my head on the seat. I closed my eyes and prayed for whatever's happening. Let them be okay.

The ride was fairly long. It was about 3 hours, and I haven't opened my eyes since we left Aunt Mani's. I could hear Aunt Kea sniffle once in a while, and her wheel tapping's pattern is distressed. It's fast, and has this pattern :Tap-ta-tap-tap. I kept hearing it in my head.

We finally arrived, and Aunt Keana stopped the car and breathing in slowly and shakily. She tapped on my arm as I looked at her, finally opening my eyes to see hers red and swollen. She has been crying.

"Kar. I want you to be very calm when we get inside." Aunt Kea started as she pulled my hand into her lap, squeezing it firmly and kissing it. "I want you to be calm and composed. It's okay to cry, but we need to hold it together. I know you're a strong one, 'cos Mommy and I raised you well, right?" she smiled sadly at me as I just nodded my head. "Your mommy-"

"Mommy?" I asked her as tears instantly fell from my eyes. I opened the car door and ran to the hospital entrance and into the lobby. I ran to the reception as I felt 2 arms pull me to the sides.

"Kara. No." Aunt Kea said sternly as my tears were falling like a waterfall now. I need to see Mommy now. I knew something bad happened, I could feel it in my stomach.

"But Mommy-" I whispered as Aunt Kea wiped my eyes and hushed me.

"I know. But you need to stay with me at all times. We're still in big trouble, okay? Everything hasn't been settled, so we have to stick together."

I just nodded my head, as Aunt Kea carried me to the long hallways of the hospital. Then I heard a familiar voice.

"Come on Little one, let's get something to eat."

"I want to stay with Mama. Please?!"

Mama's here? I looked up and saw Mama, Lana and Aunt Ally sitting on the floor in front of a room.

"Mama!" I screamed as I jumped off Aunt Kea's arms. I ran to Mama and Lana who were snuggled to each other. They stood up when they saw me as Mama engulfed me in a tight hug.

"My baby." She whispered, crying and pulling both Lana and I in a tight embrace. "My Babies."

"I'm so happy you're okay Laney. Why are you here, Mama? What happened to Mommy?" I asked them immediately as Mama sighed and Lana looked down on the ground.
