Chapter 44: Lucas's Absence; A Duo Under The Twilight!
It was a new day in Vothars and in The Midnight Sky Circus. A show was about to begin, but Lucas wasn't performing. There was something going on about him.
Marie was outside of Lucas and Spellisa's room as she was knocking the door to the room.
“Lucas, my Ringmaster, please come out!” Marie hollered, “The show is about to start and we need you!”
“Leave me alone!” Lucas shouted in the room,
“Come on, Lucas! We're worried about you!”
“Don't worry, I'm fine! I'm just not in the best mood to perform today!”
Marie sighed.
“Fine.” She said, “Suit yourself, Ringmaster.”
Marie walked away. Spellisa walked by.
“How's Lucas?” She asked Marie,
“He's not coming out of his shell.” Marie replied as she walked away,
Spellisa sighed as she went to the door to her and Lucas's room and knocked on it.
“Lucas, it's Spellisa.” Spellisa hollered, “Can I come in?”
“...Please.” Lucas replied,
Spellisa went inside to see Lucas near the mirror as he looked at his reflection.
“Darling, what's wrong?” Spellisa wondered,
“Nothing, I'm fine.” Lucas replied, “But I still don't want to perform.”
“If you can't perform as our Ringmaster, then who is gonna take your place tonight?”
“Can you do it for me?”
“Me?”
“Yes, you, my bunny… You're a Magician of Pride… You can raise the crowd's roof with your loud voice and leadership under my absence.”
Spellisa smiled.
“Lucas, that's sweet of you…” She said, “Alright, I'll take over today.”
“Thank you.” Lucas said,
The two kissed each other on the lips.
“Good luck out there.” Lucas said,
“Thanks.” Spellisa said, “And I hope you'll feel better soon.”
“Don't worry, I'm expecting to feel better once the show is over.”
Spellisa left the room.
Out in the crowd, Spellisa got up on a pedestal and got the crowd's attention. The spotlight focused on her.
“Ladies and gentlemen, due to some personal issues, our lovely Ringmaster Lucas Vonsella, will not be performing for today's show.” She said, “However, that doesn't mean the show is gonna be canceled. Instead, the Ringmaster assigned me to carry on the show as a leader.”
Spellisa then puts her arms out.
“Now, my name is Spellisa Hyde!” She said, “I'm a Magician and the Ringmaster's right-hand woman! For today's opening act, I need a volunteer for my amazing magic tricks!”
Back in Meloland, Aaron and his friends were up and ready to head back outside.
“Ok, no monsters are outside.” Huet said as they were looking out the window, “So we're all safe.”
