Adina looks at the ring and then back at me, her mouth slightly gaped open as shock shines in her eyes.
"Maybe I should've done this differently, more romantic or something." I mumble and go to place the ring back in my pocket that I had it in since Dad gave it to me.
I got so excited I didn't want to wait. This ring was my great grandmothers ring and I knew without a doubt I wanted to be with Adina for life. Dad had pulled me to the side and I seen Mom nod when I was helping with cleaning up the table since Margot took Adina to the living room before Mom joined them, which made me so incredibly happy to see her fit right in. When he asked if I loved Adina, I told him how I did with all my heart and how she is the only one for me right after he gave me the ring. It was like they knew before even asking me.
"Yes." She smiles and breaths out.
My heart burst and I slip the ring on her finger all the way.
"I don't need anything more romantic than you and this right here the surprise of it all." Adina laughs as I hold her close and shut the door to the truck.
"I love you so very much Drew."
"I love you more Adina." I kiss her lips and then pick her up bridal style to carry her to the door as she giggles. Her arms around my neck until she moves and unlocks the door for me to carry her into the house.
Our lips meet after I place her down on her feet. Her hands find the back of my neck and hold me close. Slowly I move and back her up to the couch before laying her down gently. I feel as little bean kicks making the presences known. I smile and then move down to kiss her bump.
"Your mom said yes to marrying me." I whisper and rub my nose over her bump while her hands glide through my hair. "I can't wait to meet you little bean."
I move back up and kiss Adina until we find ourselves without clothes. I sit and pull her onto my lap as she moves I line up at her enterance until she has me to the hilt within her warmth. My hands roam over her body before settling on her hips to guide her movements.
Her moans and breathing spur me on as I drive up into her until her thighs shake against me and her release coming in waves. She pushes against my shoulders, while bouncing on me. I claim her lips with mine as my release barrels through my body.
"I could really use some of that cake your Mom sent home with us." Adina laughs after resting her head on my shoulder for some time.
I can't help but laugh and she joins me.
"Let me get some clothes on and get it out of the truck." I smile and kiss her head as she stands from me.
Following her into the bedroom, I help her clean and then throw on some pajamas pants and a regular shirt while she places her robe on. When I go out to the truck, I see that a car is in Jackson's driveway with no lights on in the house. I didn't even pay attention when we got home but it seems he has company tonight too.
"I got the cake." I smile as Adina is waiting at the kitchen counter with a plate and silverware.
"Thank the stars." She smiles and gets a piece. "Do you want any?"
"No, I am good." I smile and kiss her lips again before I walk over to get a bottle of water for myself and some grape juice for Adina. It has become a drink she enjoys with her sweet treats.
"So when do you want to get married?" She looks at me. "Thank you." She smiles when I set her drink down.
"Whenever you want." I smile.
"I want you to have a say. Do you have a date you like or even if you want a big wedding or elope?"
I hum and sit at the bar with her. "I would like everyone we love there and to see you in a dress. As for a time, I wouldn't mind it still being warm for us."
She nods and smiles. "I would like that too."
"Which means we would need to get married within two months or less."
"Sounds perfect." Adina smiles and then looks at her ring. "It feels different but I love it so much but I love you even more."
I can't help but smile and my heart warm even more like I thought it was even possible at this point.
Adina gets up and washes her plate out. She looks out the window with a smile. "I am glad to see Jackson has someone too."
"I seen the car there when I was getting the cake. I didn't look when we got home."
"I didn't either and wouldn't have now but rinsing the plate out our kitchen window is right out that way. It is Sephia's car." She laughs. "Oh, one thing that has been nagging at me and I keep forgetting to ask."
"What is it?" I raise an eyebrow.
"What all do you do for winter time here? Food and such for getting stocked. Where we get firewood or a large store to stock up on supplies."
"You don't have a gas line set up for this house, so the fireplace will have to be used if we get an ice storm that cuts power. I can get the wood stocked soon from the locals. Before long we will drive out to the city to get stocked on food supplies, if you want but it may not be necessary. It has been several years since we had a blizzard." I shrug.
She sighs and then smiles. "I wouldn't mind being snowed in with you in the least. Just that fact snow is so cold."
I can't help but laugh.
"What about your work?" She tilts her head when I stand up and wrap my arms around her.
"There were a couple of times I walked to work where my apartment was made easy but we will get help and rides to the station from the law enforcement once the roads are clear enough but otherwise everyone has to hope nothing happens because some blizzards here happen no one gets out for several days. One year we were not able to get out for three weeks when we had one blizzard then hit with a second one only six days after the first."
"Now that sounds horrendous." She shakes her head and I nod.
We walk to the living room and turn the television on and cuddle. This is how I enjoy spending our nights together and can't wait for the rest of our lives together.
