Price stood his ground, meeting Captain MacMillan's intense gaze. The tension in the room was palpable, as the consequences of Price's impulsive decision weighed heavily on the conversation. "Sir, I understand the risks," Price replied, his voice unwavering. "But I couldn't just leave her alone in the middle of this chaos. Her parents are gone, and she's been through hell. I couldn't let her end up in some cold institution. She's just a kid." Captain MacMillan sighed, his frustration evident. "Price, dammit, this is a war zone. We're not equipped to take care of a child. We have our own missions, our own responsibilities. Bringing her here puts everyone at risk, including her." Price's jaw clenched as he absorbed the captain's words. He knew he had acted on his emotions, but the images of the terrified child he had rescued haunted him.

"I couldn't abandon her, sir. I had to do something." MacMillan rubbed his temples, trying to find a solution amid the chaos. "We need to find a safe place for her, Price. Somewhere she won't be a liability, and we won't compromise the mission. I'll see what we can arrange, but you need to understand the gravity of this situation." "I do, sir," Price replied a hint of remorse in his eyes. "I'll make sure she's taken care of, and I'll keep her out of sight. I just couldn't turn my back on her." The captain nodded, acknowledging Price's commitment. "We can't afford any distractions. Keep her safe, and we'll figure out a plan to handle this delicate situation. But, damn it, Price, let's hope this doesn't come back to bite us." As the weight of the decision settled in, Price silently vowed to protect the child he had taken under his wing, even if it meant facing the consequences later. The war raged on outside, but at that moment, Price was determined to be the guardian 6-year-old you needed in a world torn apart by conflict.

In the following days, Price did his best to keep you hidden and safe within their makeshift base. He found a secluded area where you could stay, away from the prying eyes of the soldiers. The men of the unit, although understanding Price's compassion, couldn't help but express concern about the potential risks they faced due to the unexpected addition to their group. As Price tended to your needs, Captain MacMillan worked discreetly to find a more permanent and secure solution, but due to the fact you had no family, and Price's fabricated story, he became stuck. It was a delicate balance between maintaining the unit's operational efficiency and ensuring the safety of the child. News of the mysterious child, however, began to spread among the troops, sparking mixed reactions. Most had no idea the real reason you were there. Questions and speculations arose but Price ignored them, never wanting to risk the chance of you being taken away from him.

Some empathized with Price, admiring his humanity in the midst of the brutality of war for taking care of this child. Others questioned the wisdom of bringing a child into such a dangerous environment. Tensions within the unit rose, and Price found himself caught between his duty as a soldier and his newfound responsibility as a guardian.

One evening, as the unit gathered for a briefing, Captain MacMillan addressed the issue. "I know this is far from ideal, but we can't turn our backs on one of our own. Price made a decision based on his principles, and we'll deal with the consequences together. Our mission remains unchanged, but we'll do what we can to ensure the safety of this child until we can find a better solution." The soldiers nodded, though not all were convinced. Price continued to shield you from the harsh realities of their situation, doing his best to provide comfort and stability in a world fraught with uncertainty.

As the days turned into weeks, the unit faced escalating challenges on the battlefield. Price's decision to bring you into their midst became a symbol of the thin line between duty and humanity, raising questions about the moral cost of their actions in the throes of war. In the quiet moments between missions, Price found solace in the simple acts of care he could offer you. He taught you to play makeshift games, shared stories of hope amid the chaos, and became the anchor you most desperately needed. The bond between the two of you grew stronger, a testament to the resilience of compassion even in the darkest of times. Yet, the shadows of war loomed large, casting doubt on the fragile sanctuary Price had created. The consequences of his decision remained uncertain, and the unit pressed forward, haunted by the echoes of a war that tested not only their strength as soldiers but also the depths of their humanity.

The "better solution" MacMillan spoke of never came, and the SAS became your home. As the war continued its relentless march, Price found himself faced with the challenging task of not only protecting you but also preparing you for the harsh realities of their world. The initial days of providing comfort and shelter evolved into a structured routine of training and homeschooling. With makeshift targets and an old set of maps, Price began imparting his knowledge of survival and combat to you. He taught you how to handle weapons, move stealthily through the war-torn landscape, and identify potential threats. The training sessions were intense, but Price knew that arming you with these skills was essential for your survival.

The other soldiers in the unit, initially skeptical of the situation, started to witness the transformation. The once timid and frightened child began to show signs of resilience and determination. Price's fellow soldiers, recognizing the importance of ensuring your safety, reluctantly joined in the effort, offering their expertise in various areas such as medical care, navigation, and communication. Despite the challenges, the bond between Price and you deepened. You began to see him not only as a protector but also as a mentor and father figure. Price, in turn, discovered a renewed sense of purpose in guiding and shaping you into someone who could navigate the brutal landscape they found themselves in.

As the training progressed, whispers about the mysterious girl and her transformation spread throughout the unit. Some saw you as a symbol of hope in a seemingly hopeless war, while others remained wary of the potential risks you posed to their missions. The dynamics within the unit continued to shift, with you becoming an unexpected yet integral part of their tightly-knit group. Amid the chaos and uncertainty, Price and you forged a unique connection that transcended the boundaries of war. The training sessions not only prepared you for the dangers that lurked outside their base but also served as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
