As the sun began to set, the group of soldiers lounged around the house. Some were engrossed in their phones, while others battled it out on Mario Kart. You found yourself in a fierce competition with Soap, Keegan, and Viper, all vying for first place. Gaz watched from the sidelines, occasionally throwing in a comment or two. "Fuckin' hell!" Soap yelled as he fell off the map yet again. "Bye loser," you taunted as you zoomed past him. In the end, Keegan claimed first place and you settled for second, bidding everyone a good game.
Just as you were about to relax and enjoy your victory, Price called you over. "Y/n, come here please," he said, motioning for you to join him. You nodded and made your way over, wondering what he needed from you now. "Laswell needs a written report on the mission," Price informed you. "Do you have your laptop?" You sighed, realizing that it was still back in Mexico. "No, it's back in Mexico still," you replied dejectedly. "I won't make you write it out by hand, go ahead and use mine," Price said kindly, handing you his laptop. "Thank you," you said gratefully as you took the device from him.
"Hey, we're heading into the nearest town for some things. Want to come?" Keegan asked. "Is everyone going?" you inquired. "Nah, just me, Viper, and Ghost," he responded. "I would love to, but duty calls," you replied with a sigh. "What duty?" Simon asked curiously. "Report on the mission," you explained. Simon nodded understandingly. "Do you need anything?" "Some clothes would be great. Some casual and some pajamas," you requested. "Got it. I'll be back soon," Simon said before giving you a quick kiss and heading out the door. As you sat back down on the couch, Soap theatrically wiped fake tears from his eyes. "My heart is touched."
"Shut up!" you laughed, playfully hitting him. "Y/n, report," Price reminded you with a stern look. "Okay, okay. I'm going," you said as you got up and made your way upstairs to your room. You placed the laptop on your desk and sat down, opening it up. A password prompt appeared, but luckily all of Price's passwords were the same - your name and birthday. As you typed in the password and the laptop unlocked, you furrowed your brows in confusion. You were met with Viper's file instead of the blank desktop you were expecting. Curiosity piqued, you opened the file and began to read.
As your eyes scanned the screen, your heart plummeted into your stomach. The words on the page seemed to blur together as you read them out loud to yourself in a hushed whisper. "Alex Keller," you whispered, tracing the letters on the screen with trembling fingers. "Born in New York City, USA... 31 years old." None of this made sense, yet it all fit together like pieces of a puzzle. Your breaths came out ragged and heavy, and you nearly dropped the laptop in shock. Your brother had been gone for almost two decades, yet for the past two months, you had spoken with him and formed a friendship. The realization hit you like a ton of bricks, leaving your throat parched and dry as if all the air had been sucked out of the room.
You sat there, staring at the screen, trying to process what you had just read. A chill ran down your spine, and you felt like everything you thought you knew was a lie. You forced yourself to take a deep breath, trying to keep your emotions in check. What was done was done, and you couldn't change it. You needed answers, and the only way to get them was to confront Price and the others.
A surge of anger rippled through your body, fueled by the realization that Price had known all along. How long had he kept this information from you? And who else was aware of the truth? You pushed yourself out of the chair, tears welling up in your eyes as your emotions reached a boiling point. Storming down the stairs, your breathing became heavy and your nostrils flared with each furious breath. "Y/n?" Soap's voice sounded concerned, but you were beyond reason. "Shut the fuck up," you spat at him before turning to face Price. "How long did you fucking know, huh?" you yelled at him. "Y/n, what are you-" Price tried to speak, but you cut him off. "Don't even try to act like you don't know. How long did you know he was my brother?" Your voice cracked with emotion as you struggled to hold back tears.
