Throughout the long, restless night, Ghost never left your side. The team stayed awake, simmering with anger and frustration, all feeling a sense of betrayal at the events that had transpired. They couldn't shake the feeling that they could have done more to prevent it all. But Ghost and Price's thoughts were solely focused on you. Ghost sat on the floor next to the bed, his fingers intertwined with yours as he rubbed gentle circles on the back of your hand with his thumb. The sudden sound of the door opening made Ghost startle, quickly pulling his hand away from yours. Price entered the room, carrying two steaming cups of coffee in his hands. "Figured we'd be up all night," he said, offering one cup to Ghost before taking a seat next to him. It was an awkward moment between them, each one knowing what the other was thinking.

Price cleared his throat before speaking up again. "Ghost, be honest with me," he said in a low voice. Ghost turned to face Price, already sensing where this conversation was headed. "About what?" he asked cautiously. "What's going on between you and y/n?" Price asked directly. Ghost shifted uncomfortably, unable to meet Price's gaze as he answered, "We...we like each other, sir...more than just friends." The last sentence seemed difficult for Ghost to say out loud, knowing not only that Price had raised you like a daughter but also that it was frowned upon for a lieutenant to be involved with a sergeant.

Price's gaze lingered on your sleeping form, taking in the peaceful rise and fall of your chest before he let out a sigh. "Sir, I know it may look bad, but I truly believe we have something special," Ghost spoke up. Price chuckled, causing Ghost to furrow his brow in confusion. "Oh, I know. You've changed. Only a woman could do that to a man," Price admitted with a hint of admiration in his tone. "So...you're not angry?" Ghost asked cautiously. Price sighed again and shook his head. "If she's happy, then I'm happy too. It's just..there's a lot you don't know, Ghost," Price said cryptically. "What do you mean?" Ghost pressed for more information. "Well, with her choosing to go by her own name now, I have a feeling that all will be revealed in due time," Price said enigmatically, leaving Ghost with even more questions than before.

Ghost's mind drifted back to what Graves had said. "Graves mentioned something about her being a deserter," Ghost mused aloud. Price's eyes widened and his mouth hung open a bit. "How did he-?" Price started, but before he could finish his sentence, he stopped himself, knowing that getting into this was not his place. "Revenge is a nasty business. She did what she had to do," Price quickly said. Ghost let out a small chuckle, causing Price to give him a confused look. "What?" he inquired. "It's just not like you to forgive a deserter," Ghost replied, a hint of admiration in his tone. Price scoffed before responding, "We may not be blood, but she's still my little girl at the end of the day." Ghost nodded in understanding, knowing that family bonds were not always defined by blood. "And it's not like you to fall in love. People change," Price added with a thoughtful expression on his face. Ghost gave him a small smile, grateful for Price's acceptance and understanding of his past.

"I guess you're right," Ghost nodded in agreement. The two of them sipped their steaming cups of coffee, the warm liquid bringing a sense of comfort and familiarity. They sat together in contented silence, the only sound breaking the stillness being your soft, rhythmic breathing.

Meanwhile..
