The sunlight filtered in through the window, casting an ethereal glow on the hospital room. Ghost sat by your side, his rough thumb gently rubbing circles on your arm as he held you close. The door creaked open, and a doctor entered with a clipboard in hand. "Oh, hello sir. I'm Doctor Vallez," she said, her eyes widening slightly at Ghost's appearance. "Ghost," he replied with a nod. "I was just checking on her. I suppose you're the husband?" the doctor asked. "Boyfriend, and do you need me to move?" Ghost asked protectively. "No, that's alright. But if you wouldn't mind waking her," the doctor said. "You must be so excited." "For what?" Ghost asked with a raised eyebrow. "Oh...just to get out of here," the doctor stumbled nervously, sensing that there was more to the situation than meets the eye. Ghost nodded and went over to gently wake you up. "Y/n, the doctor's here," he whispered softly, shaking you awake. You gasped and quickly sat up, looking around in confusion before recognizing where you were.
"Sorry, did I scare you?" Ghost asked with concern etched on his face. "No, it's okay," you reassured him with a small smile. "Just wanted to see how you were feeling. Is everything alright?" the doctor asked professionally. "Actually, yeah. I'm feeling a lot better," you replied honestly. "In that case, we could have you discharged by tonight," the doctor said with a smile of relief. "Can I see my friends now?" you asked eagerly, already missing their company. "Of course, I'll let the staff know. Also, Ghost...next time please ask," the doctor added sternly, giving Ghost a pointed look for not following protocol earlier. Ghost sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Got it," he responded dutifully. "Could you get everyone?" you asked Ghost with a hopeful look in your eyes. "Of course," Ghost said, releasing you from his embrace and making his way out of the room.
As he left, you turned to the doctor with a grateful smile. "Could I...schedule an appointment a few weeks from now just to make sure this is really happening?" you asked hesitantly. The doctor nodded understandingly. "That's actually a reason I came in here, but it looks like you didn't tell him so I didn't want to say anything," she explained quietly. "Thank you so much," you breathed out in relief. "It is...his, isn't it?" the doctor asked delicately. "Yes, of course," you replied confidently, placing a protective hand over your stomach. Just then, Ghost returned with the rest of your teammates - Soap, Keegan, Viper, Price, and Gaz - all wearing relieved smiles on their faces as they saw you awake and looking healthier.
"Hey Y/n," Soap greeted you warmly as he gave you a hug, followed by Keegan and Viper. Even Gaz, gave you a small smile as he handed you your favorite bag of chips. "Thank you, I'm starving," you said gratefully as you opened the bag and started munching on the chips hungrily. Ghost looked at the doctor accusingly. "You haven't fed her?" he questioned sternly. The doctor quickly picked up her things. "I-I'll get right on that," she said before rushing out of the room to get some food for you. You rolled your eyes playfully at Ghost's overprotectiveness. "Simon, you can't scare everyone all the time," you scolded him with a laugh. But deep down, you were grateful to have someone like Ghost by your side, always looking out for you and your people.
"Just my nature," Ghost said nonchalantly, shrugging his shoulders. He looked over at Viper, deep in conversation with Keegan before returning his gaze to you. A wave of guilt washed over him as he stood in front of the brother you had thought was dead for almost 20 years. Your mind raced with a mixture of emotions as your hand went to your stomach, where your unborn child grew. Both you and Ghost were keeping big secrets from each other, but now wasn't the time to reveal them. "Any news?" Gaz asked, breaking the heavy silence that hung between you all. You nodded slowly, your thoughts still in a frenzy.
"I think I'm being discharged tonight," you announced, trying to sound confident but your voice wavered slightly. "Where are we going to go?" Soap questioned Price, his tone filled with worry and uncertainty. "Laswell arranged a safehouse for us," Price responded calmly. "It's a few hours out, but it's our best bet until we're cleared to go on leave." Soap's face lit up at the mention of leave. "Leave," he repeated with a wide grin. "It's been forever since I've been on leave." His enthusiasm was contagious, but Price quickly brought everyone back to reality. "Well don't get too comfortable," he warned with a stern look. "I have a feeling this isn't all the way over." You swallowed hard, knowing that having a baby amidst all this chaos would not be easy.
Suddenly, the doctor entered the room with a tray of hospital food in her hands. She handed it to you and you offered a grateful smile before she hurriedly left the room again. You peered down at the unappetizing meal in front of you, but decided to eat it anyway. "That looks awful," Soap commented, scrunching his nose in disgust. "Tastes how it looks," you replied with a small smile, grateful for the distraction from your racing thoughts.
The group settled into conversation, but Ghost remained lost in his thoughts. With each passing moment, the weight of his secret grew heavier. He knew he had to tell you before it was too late, before you found out from someone else. "I'll be heading to the Pentagon soon," Viper announced with a slight smile. "Laswell has something lined up for me." "That's great news," you replied warmly. "You made the right choice joining us." Viper nodded, but a hint of nervousness crept into his voice. "I just hope I can live up to her expectations. I've never actually met Laswell in person and I've heard she can be quite intimidating." He said, his brows furrowing. "Sometimes, but as long as you're on her good side, there's nothing to worry about." You reassured Viper with a smile.
That Night

Under the dark, starry sky, Ghost gently guided you out to the car, carrying the small bag of belongings you had brought with you. You settled into the backseat next to him and Soap, while Price took the wheel and Gaz sat in the passenger seat. Keegan and Viper followed behind in another car. "It's going to be a long drive, so try to rest," Price said as he started up the engine and pulled away from the curb. As you gazed out the window, taking in the familiar cityscape, you couldn't help but notice how much America had changed since you were last there. The buildings seemed taller, the streets more crowded, and the bustling energy of the city was almost overwhelming. However, as Ghost leaned his head against your shoulder, all of those thoughts faded away. You wrapped your arms around him and breathed in his comforting scent, feeling grateful to have him by your side. Even though he had been awake for hours on end during your hospital stay, he closed his eyes now and allowed himself to finally rest, lying peacefully against you as the car hummed along through the night.
With Ghosts arms wrapped around you, you couldn't help but feel the depth of his love. It radiated from him like a warm fire on a cold night. The thought of building a life and starting a family with him brought a genuine smile to your face. But as you lay in each other's embrace, the topic of children had never been broached. Your relationship, while filled with love, was far from normal. Every day was spent living in fear and uncertainty, yet somehow that only brought the two of you closer. In the midst of chaos, your bond felt unbreakable and full of promise.
