A/N: Sorry about not updating for a few days, I've been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and lorddd it's so good. I think I have a video game men problem because if I'm being real Arthur Morgan could get it any time any day. But besides that I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the book.

All love -M

As the group gathered in the living room, the air was thick with conversation, you however, were lost in your thoughts about the upcoming mission. Ghost approached you with a cup of tea, a gentle gesture that momentarily eased the tension in your chest. Taking the cup gratefully, you found solace in its warmth as he settled beside you on the couch. Despite the lively chatter around you, the realization that you wouldn't be joining tonight's mission gnawed at your insides, filling you with a sense of frustration and longing to be out there with the team.

However, the thought that Laswell was digging into Shepherd and the Shadows brought some relief. This investigation promised to uncover the truth behind Graves's questionable decisions and the shadowy organization lurking in the background. You held onto the hope that once the truth was revealed, you could finally put this chapter behind you and focus on the real missions ahead. "Something on your mind?" Ghost asked beside you, everyone else engrossed in their own conversations.

You turned to Ghost, meeting his concerned gaze. "Just thinking about the mission, or lack thereof," you admitted, taking a sip of your tea. "Feels strange not being out there with the team, you know?" Ghost nodded understandingly. "I get it. But you'll be back in action soon enough. And until then, we'll keep an eye out for anything suspicious," he reassured you, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. You appreciated his support, feeling a sense of calm wash over you. With Ghost by your side, you knew you could handle whatever challenges came your way, even if it meant waiting on the sidelines for now.

Keegan's gaze lingered on you and Ghost, observing the newfound closeness between you two. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy creeping in as he remembered his own failed attempt to make a move on you. The memory filled him with embarrassment, his cheeks flushing hot with the realization. Sighing inwardly, Keegan tried to push aside his feelings of envy, reminding himself that your happiness was what mattered most. He focused back on Soaps rambling, hoping to distract himself from the uncomfortable emotions swirling inside him.

As the morning wore on, you found yourself engaged in various conversations with your teammates, sharing stories, jokes, and plans for the future. Despite the looming mission, there was an undeniable sense of camaraderie and warmth in the air, strengthening the bonds between you all. Ghost remained by your side throughout, his presence a constant source of comfort and reassurance. You found solace in the quiet moments shared between the two of you, exchanging knowing glances and subtle touches that spoke volumes without a word being said.

As you stepped outside into the crisp afternoon air, the warmth of the sun caressed your skin, casting long shadows across the base. You sought a moment of reprieve from the bustling activity indoors, craving the fresh air to clear your mind. Pulling a cigarette from your pocket, you leaned against the wall, the concrete cool against your back. With practiced fingers, you lit the cigarette, the flame dancing in the daylight. As you took a drag, you felt the tension in your muscles begin to unwind, the familiar ritual offering a brief escape from the demands of the day.
